Dingbyeol's Illustrated Ballet Diary
Description
Book Introduction
Would you like to hear the story of my hobby, ballet, which I met by chance and became destined to become?
From yesterday's stress to today's healing,
A sweet and bittersweet experience that made me cry and laugh thanks to ballet.
Memories of spring, summer, fall, and winter
"I really hate stretching. Why am I so stiff? I hate Adagio even more. Why is Allegro so fast? I want to skip class today, but if I eat a lot, I feel guilty for some reason..."
"Why is the Arabesque so beautiful? When did my neck and arms get so long? Doesn't it make me look so much taller when I straighten my back and maintain a straight posture?"
The two conflicting reactions above are stories that anyone who has ever been exposed to ballet as a hobby will completely agree with and say, "That's right, that's right!"
In fact, ballet is a genre with a very high barrier to learning as a hobby.
My skills don't improve as quickly as I thought, and I have to train the same stretching and bar work repeatedly. Even if I work hard at bar work, when I actually do center work, I see myself in the mirror doing movements that are embarrassingly rhythmic.
However, ballet is also a hobby of 'honest magic' that allows you to experience amazing physical and mental changes in proportion to the amount of sweat you put in.
"Dingbyeol's Illustrated Ballet Diary" is a sentimental illustrated essay that contains the ups and downs of a hobbyist ballet dancer's journey of growth after falling in love with this "overwhelming" ballet.
