Book Introduction
What and how should I eat during cancer treatment?
Introducing essential knowledge and up-to-date information for nutritional management of cancer patients
We've included cooking recipes that will help you achieve proper nutrition and a healthy diet.

Although many people know that they need to eat well during cancer treatment, the reality is that they feel at a loss because they don't know exactly how to eat.
"Cancer Diet Guide 2: Essential for Cancer Treatment" was designed to provide cancer patients and their caregivers who are struggling with dietary issues with accurate and correct nutritional information and practical help in determining "what and how to eat specifically."
The text first contains useful nutritional information based on medical evidence, such as the basic principles of a proper diet during cancer treatment, symptom-specific dietary tips for treatment side effects, and questions and answers about frequently asked questions.
In addition, experts from the nutrition teams at Yonsei Cancer Hospital and Severance Hospital and CJ Freshway collaborate to suggest a variety of nutritious anti-cancer dishes that can provide specific help with nutritional management and meal preparation for cancer patients.

In 2009, the writing team published “Cancer Diet Guide Essential for Cancer Treatment,” which was the first in Korea to introduce nutritional management guidelines for cancer treatment, and received a warm response.
At that time, the opinion of many readers who were fond of the book was that it would be good to provide more menus.
So, in this second book, we've included 98 new menu items that are nutritionally superior and easy to consume, without overlapping with existing menu items.

Useful nutritional information to know before preparing your diet

As cancer treatment progresses, various symptoms such as changes in appetite and indigestion may appear, which may make it difficult to eat even basic meals.
Fortunately, with the growing awareness of healthy and therapeutic diets, a variety of related foods are available, and there are ways to utilize them to supplement nutrition. Part 2 examines various situations where eating becomes difficult and nutritional deficiencies arise, and provides solutions for addressing them. Part 3 presents useful information to keep in mind before preparing anti-cancer dishes.

Helps to facilitate smooth treatment and restore physical strength

Part 4 introduces a menu created by combining the know-how accumulated by experts from various fields, including nutritionists, medical staff, and patient food menu planning experts, with the latest food culture trends.
When you have difficulties such as loss of appetite, indigestion, or changes in taste, we suggest recipes that allow you to consume balanced nutrition while being as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
The 98 menu items made with a variety of healthy ingredients are divided into six categories: rice, noodles, porridge, a la carte dishes, snacks, and children's dishes, allowing you to choose according to your personal taste and physical condition.
It contains enough protein and all the necessary nutrients in one bowl, making it a real help for treatment and recovery.

Some of the recipes provided are for one serving, while others are for two servings.
After selecting a menu, decide how many servings you want to make, and then refer to the suggested amount to make a meal that is both tasty and nutritious without wasting ingredients.
This snack can be used when the calorie intake is insufficient due to a small meal size. It is convenient to use by making and storing a certain amount at a time, and it contains a menu that allows you to get protein.
They also introduced a children's menu that was not available before.
We hope that the children's menu, which adds cute fun to the colors and shapes of the food while maintaining taste and nutrition, will be helpful to children receiving pediatric cancer treatment.

The included menu is the result of more than a year of trial and error.
It was created with the sincere hope and support for the treatment and recovery of each and every patient enduring a difficult period of illness.
I sincerely hope that “Cancer Diet Guide 2: Essential for Cancer Treatment” will be of some help to cancer patients and their caregivers.
