Publisher's Review
* Our English concerns become most profound when we have to work in English.
Just as much as small talk or discussions in English, the workplace is where practical English skills are needed.
I think our greatest concerns about English arise when we have to work in English and feel like our English skills are lacking.
In the hopes of alleviating some of those people's concerns, we've prepared the "English for Office Workers" section.
* Based on the author's experience, I wanted to introduce really helpful expressions.
The author's personal experiences also played a role in writing this book.
When I was working, I worked with a native English-speaking boss, and when I got to work, we only communicated in English within the company.
I tried to use that experience to introduce really helpful expressions.
This book reflects the author's expertise, as he knows exactly what people say in the workplace and what Koreans say that leaves them speechless.
* Half of the entire content is devoted to expressions for communication with other departments.
We'll first introduce expressions that can be used in various business situations, followed by phrases you might use when talking to different departments.
These days, many Korean companies have foreign employees, so we took into account the possibility that there could be foreign employees in any department.
* I'm sure you'll find the expressions I need to use
If you're a working professional who uses English, you'll definitely have opportunities to use the expressions in the sentences, even if they don't match the exact sentences in the book.
Business English is broad and deep.
Because each industry deals with very specific topics, it's impossible to put together a single book that will satisfy all industries and departments.
But if you remember the key expressions that have been paraphrased, you will find yourself using and applying them in some way.
The same goes for the dialogue introduced in the book.
Even if the questions and answers don't match exactly, you'll definitely find yourself using the chunks of expression within.
*If you're frustrated because you always have to think of the same expressions when speaking English, paraphrasing is the solution.
Paraphrasing is a technique for expressing the same meaning in different sentences.
The "Same Idea, Different Expressions" series aims to help people learn a variety of expressions through "paraphrasing."
Many people who have reached the intermediate level feel frustrated by their limited English expressions and the fact that they are always saying the same thing.
For those of us who already have Korean as our native language, there's no magic bullet for becoming fluent in English other than constantly pairing Korean expressions with their English counterparts in our heads.
The key is how many different English expressions you can pair.
People who have one English alternative to their native language and those who have several are bound to differ in their fluency and richness of expression.
The series “Same Thought, Different Expressions” was created for just such “pairing.”
*This series shows the identity of Practicus.
Meanwhile, Practicus Publishing has been introducing useful English expressions to intermediate and higher level readers through series such as “I Want to Speak More English” and “Manager Kim’s English Diary.”
The new series, "Same Idea, Different Expressions," has already published the "Small Talk" and "English Discussion" volumes, and this is the third volume.
We hope you'll improve your English speaking skills in a short period of time through "paraphrasing," which is emphasized in "Same Idea, Different Expressions."
*Enhance your learning effectiveness by utilizing free YouTube lectures.
The author personally explains 140 of the 166 conversations that you must remember on YouTube.
In addition to this book's commentary, you can find a variety of intermediate-level practical English content on Practicus' YouTube channel.
