Description
Book Introduction
A conversation between a mother and a child
The language of love and respect that a mother conveys to her complaining and whining child.

Language has played a crucial role in giving humans the immense power they have today, and through the use of language, humans have built societies and developed civilizations.
Language is one of the basic functions that we learn naturally from birth, but that doesn't mean we can acquire it automatically.
Babies learn to speak little by little in the language environment given to them, and as they grow older, they learn to write and acquire language skills.
So, the mother's devotion and affection for her baby, who listens to her baby's babbling, names each object her baby points to, and even ruins the interior of her home by putting up G, N, D posters, may actually be a condensed version of the survival strategy of Homo sapiens.
In a sense, the conversation between mother and baby contains the human universe.

The picture book, “Mom’s Voice Said,” presents the conversation between a mother and a child in the form of a story.
The child speaks, the mother responds, and the child's words and the mother's words are connected and intertwined.
But the child's words are filled with complaints and negative self-talk.
I hate myself, I'm not good at anything, I guess I'm useless.
In fact, children's self-deprecation and inferiority complex are close to a rite of passage that they naturally encounter during the process of growing up.
The world is full of people who are better and cooler than me, and the media tends to glorify and exaggerate those people, so maybe that's natural.
According to the 'emotional coaching' theory, we must fully empathize with children's negative emotions and help them express them.
Therefore, the negative language that a child grumbles and spits out has meaning in itself.
It is important to note that the mother's words that follow are a message of comfort and solace, and contain affection and respect.
The world is beautiful and special because of you, stay strong, I love you.

If you think about it, language is always accompanied by emotions and feelings.
Since the time they babbled, mothers and children have been exchanging glances, feelings, and warmth.
The period when a baby begins to speak and expands his or her vocabulary is also a time when emotional differentiation occurs.
As children learn each word, they learn to understand and express their emotions.
In all the moments when I feel frustrated, annoyed, sad, upset, regretful, and bored, how reassuring it is to know that my mother is right next to me.
"Mother's Voice Said" is a story about the love that a mother and child share through a conversation between the mother and the child.
If we refer to the words of Paul Diehl (in “The Need for Love”), “The various mental relationships that can be formed between people (affection, kindness, goodwill, friendship, etc.) are created through the love between mother and child,” then there is no education and care more important than this.

A very special Korean doll picture book that is unlike any other in the world.

"Mother's Voice Said" uses wordplay to interpret consonants and vowels as child sounds and mother sounds, and then constructs a dialogue to show the process of consonants and vowels coming together to form language.
At this time, the child's voice is called by the name of each Korean consonant, and children with names such as Giyeok, Nieuni, and Digeut grumble while listing negative words that begin with the same initial consonant.
Then, the mother's voice suggests positive language that starts with the same initial consonant.
To Giyeok, who complains that there are no good words among words with the word "giyeok" in them, such as "I'm poor, it's just so-so," he tells him, "If you have Giyeok, you can have a path, walk, and go together."
To Lee Eul (ㄹ), who is upset that her mother's voice is always used as a final consonant, she advises that it is not necessary for her to be in front to be great (because she can call, go, and stay only if she is in front), and to Ki-eun (ㅋ), who is discouraged because she is afraid of seeming too strong, she comforts her by saying that everyone is born different.

The rag dolls created by Lee Eun gently wrap around the conversation that swings back and forth like a pendulum between complaints and consolation, self-deprecation and acceptance.
In "Mother's Voice Said," the crying faces of the GND consonants and the warm message of the mother's voice were replaced with pictures made of rag dolls.
The texture of the fluffy cloth and the softness of the doll softly and warmly express the emotions exchanged between mother and child.
Rag dolls help us personify and transform the abstract form of 'sound' into a tangible and visible form, making it recognizable at a glance.

Finally, in the picture book, Hee-ut (ㅎ) says this.
“I’m so fickle.
“My heart keeps changing.” Hee-ut is included in both laughter and crying.
But the original mind is bound to change from one thing to another.
Just like a mother's reassuring words, "Everyone's heart is swayed in all directions," the ups and downs of emotions and the shadow of negative language are all necessary processes for a child.
In other words, it's because they've all grown up.
In this way, "Mother's Voice Said" is a lovely picture book that tightly covers the power of words and the possibilities of the heart, as well as the potential of a child and a mother's love at every turn.
It can be helpful for everyone, from children just learning to read and write to those expanding their vocabulary, from teenagers struggling to cope with explosive emotional changes to adults in need of psychological healing.
