Description
Book Introduction
What kind of life should I live as a teacher?
With what kind of mindset should we teach children?
The honest stories of teachers' hearts, inside and outside the classroom, that we've always wondered about.
A warm-hearted essay on education and growth from a 28-year veteran teacher.

What do teachers do after class?
Want to know how to communicate with fellow teachers and parents?

Teachers are the adults who watch over and accompany children the most closely after parents.
Sometimes, a single word from a teacher can have a greater impact on a child than a parent's, and can be an important driving force for change or growth.
But in reality, we don't really know how children and teachers build trust and intimacy within schools.
Many students dream of becoming teachers, but no one provides specific guidance on how to communicate with students and parents, how to teach, and what role teachers should play in various on- and off-campus events.
The same goes for parents and students.
Consultations with teachers are somehow burdensome, and hearing about school life through children is one-sided and limited.
This book allows us to break free from our preconceived notions about the seemingly stable and realistic aspects of the teaching profession and take a peek into the classroom experiences of actual teachers.
It contains the various daily events that occur in school, the hardships teachers face, and the duties and joys of being a teacher who helps students grow.
Teachers and school, a space that feels familiar yet sometimes distant.
When you want to delve deeper into the world, this book will provide clear answers to how to learn and grow with children, something every teacher and parent should understand together.

Into the book
I wanted to say that no matter what happens, 'the essence of teaching does not change.'
So, I hope that younger teachers with a passion for education and a love for children will come to the school and protect it.
Lastly, I would like to say to the teachers who are currently working, “Cheer up.”
And to love children more passionately.
This thought alone is reason enough to stand here.

When you do something that makes you feel uncomfortable, you grow that much.
They say that after the rain the ground hardens and good medicine tastes bitter.
The same goes for studying.
The process of learning something you didn't know before is really uncomfortable.
But, if you do something that feels uncomfortable, you will receive the gift of 'growth'.

For the sake of the child, parents must change first.
Please communicate seriously with your child so that he or she can trust you and walk a solid path in life.

At first, it may feel awkward and unfamiliar to each other, but as time goes by, trust builds between the child and the teacher, and parents gradually feel comfortable in their relationship with the teacher.
As mutual understanding deepens, misunderstandings are resolved and better communication becomes possible.
This situation becomes a garden for the child to grow educationally.
After I tell my parents my opinion, there is only one thing left to do.
'Keeping that promise for a year.'

Conflicts often arise between children at school.
Although these situations can be somewhat uncomfortable, children learn various character traits such as compromise, persuasion, patience, consideration, and forgiveness through the process of resolving conflicts.
However, wise guidance from teachers and parents is essential for positive learning in the conflict resolution process.

Teachers and parents must be closely connected as the two axes that lead children's change.
It is important for parents to consult with teachers on necessary matters, for teachers to provide parents with information necessary for their child's growth, and for them to wisely guide their child's education together based on each other's opinions.

Good classes ultimately have a positive impact on children.
So, I want to say this to teachers who are struggling with their classes.
'There is no royal road to learning.
If you work hard, the path will appear.'

As a seasoned teacher with 28 years of experience, I feel comfortable in this position.
But getting to this point was based on countless trials and errors, passion from the beginning, and failures.
So whenever I meet new teachers, I always say this.
“Try and fail as much as you can.
That's the beginning of growth.”

There are colleagues who sympathize with even the smallest glance and laugh, and sometimes even make you cry.
There are seniors and juniors who will clap their hands at your every word and make phone calls for you with a nod.
So teaching is still warm and bearable.
Even when we feel exhausted from various things, we have fellow teachers to share our hearts with, and that is where we can find the courage to teach children again. That is the teaching profession.

A child learns through any activity.
Therefore, even if a school violence situation occurs, adults must open the way for the child to learn and give them time to reflect on their mistakes.
Children can make mistakes.
So adults must teach the right path to children who can change at any time.
That's why schools, teachers and adults exist.

Teachers primarily teach, counsel, and work in the classroom.
Although the classroom has the advantage of being an independent space, it can also become a place where communication with others is cut off.
So, teachers need to look around at the next class and the person next to them, and have the space to take a deep breath in their own heart.

I think that 'teacher DNA' definitely exists.
People who are in the profession of teachers strive to teach one child well, no matter the difficulties.
A child's smile makes me smile, and a parent's words of gratitude touch my heart.
I prepare by counting every minute and every second to do well in a one-hour class.
That is the teacher's 'DNA'.

Teachers spend all day interacting with children.
In this process, children learn important things outside of the classroom together with their teachers.
This is called a 'potential curriculum'.
Beyond the curriculum written on the schedule, we learn a lot from what our teachers say and do.
This may be as important as the 'surface curriculum'.

Children are never at fault.
If they misbehave, it is our responsibility as adults to teach and guide them.
That's why education is necessary.
Additionally, it would be good to establish a system where teachers can communicate and consult about the various concerns they face.
I hope that through this, we can become a school where children can receive a proper education.

“If teachers are happy, children will be happy too.” “Teacher, please love yourself.
Teachers, never forget that before you are a teacher, you are your parents' precious children.
Please live no matter what.
No matter what happens.”

Publisher's Review
Besides Korean, English, and math, what other classes do children take at school?
What activities should we do during recess? Are there any ways to make our class special?

Even though children are having fun playing, they soon start fighting with their friends and throwing tantrums saying they don't want to go to school.
In the small society called school, we experience big and small things and overcome difficulties and inconveniences.
In the first period, you can see children growing as individuals while learning how to wisely resolve conflicts at school.
You will find hope for education in the stories of pure and innocent children.

In the second period, Parents and Teachers, School Together, we covered things that parents of elementary school children should know about study methods, such as making summer vacation plans, advice on math education that children find difficult, and why you should definitely read biographies, as well as advice as a teacher on concerns about children who are having a hard time at school, such as refusal to go to school, children who do not answer during class, and how to communicate with adolescents.

The 3rd period, 28 years of elementary school teacher's teaching tips, contains practical teaching information that prospective new teachers need, such as what to say to parents who do not submit correspondence, how to use notices, what homeroom teachers should say at parent-teacher meetings, and what to keep in mind when counseling parents.

Finally, in the 4th period, as a teacher with 28 years of experience, I reveal my beliefs about what kind of person should be a true teacher.
You will be able to fully feel the desire to correct the world of teachers and public education that is collapsing in order to create a happy school, to comfort fellow teachers, and to correct the perspectives of all those who look at the classroom.

No matter what happens, 'the essence of teaching never changes.'

This book tells the story of a classroom where students and teachers learn and grow together in a space called school.
The true power of education can only be achieved when teachers, students, and parents all work together.
For parents, it will be a new experience in understanding teachers, for current teachers, it will be a source of comfort and empathy, and for prospective and new teachers, it will be a practice run for wisely navigating school life in the future.
