Reading a movie with children? Movies are meant to be watched, not read. It's not often we use the expression "reading a movie."
The reason I included 'Reading Films (for Children)' in the title of the book is because I want to share the joy of not just watching a film, but actively interpreting it and delving into every nook and cranny of it.
Of course, you don't have to watch every movie and get lost in thought and worry.
But at least for the films introduced in this book, I hope that students, family members, and educational institutions outside of school will enjoy and share new ways of watching movies through an active reading process.
This book presents case studies of film reading classes with questions based on approximately 30 films, organized by topic and subject. In a world where AI can instantly extract everything, students will learn that their creative thinking cannot be replaced by any AI. Through independent film viewing and discussion, students will contemplate the world they inhabit and connect it to issues such as climate change, career paths, and integrated learning.

How should we conduct a film reading class?
Children and adolescents respond better to experiential learning than to thinking-based learning.
Film reading classes that involve interacting with children help students develop the ability to interpret images in a variety of ways, understand people, and reflect on life.
This book provides an opportunity to delve deeper into various issues in our society while watching a film.
The text is largely divided into “Opening the Movie” - “Into the Movie” - “Outside the Movie”, and guides readers to open their minds and become independent movie viewers by “Opening the Movie”, to awaken their own thoughts and explore the theme by entering “Into the Movie”, and to expand their background knowledge by coming “Outside the Movie” to promote personal thought and growth.
The films introduced in the book were selected by the author, who has been active in the film reading research group for a long time, by short films, animations, and by subject and subject that would be good to watch with students.
The facilitator will select the film to suit the class or discussion topic, but the film reading class examples introduced in the book should be used as reference material only, and each student should conduct an excellent film reading class that suits the situation in their classroom.
