Into the book
We suffer physically and mentally from countless worries.
However, the more difficult the situation, the more we must make an effort to confirm the reality of our worries.
4% of worries must be addressed to improve your life, but 96% are unnecessary.
It's more like a mythical animal than a real one.
It can be said to be a distorted illusion created by the human brain that can never become reality.

--- p.34

Uncertainty brings about a lot of distracting thoughts and steals precious time.
If we have an attitude of acknowledging and accepting its inevitability, uncertainty can be used as an opportunity for inner growth and self-discovery, becoming a catalyst for personal growth and learning.
Humans are not gods.
I want to control everything, but that's impossible from the start.
Isn't it life because it's uncertain, and isn't it human because it's imperfect?

--- p.60

Ironically, we only become perfect when we break free from perfectionism.
Only by being able to naturally accept the proposition that “to make mistakes is human” and becoming a more tolerant person rather than a narrow-minded person, can one finally find peace of mind, as Tolstoy, one of the great writers of the 19th century, famously said.

--- p.145

Anxiety is not your friend, but it is not your enemy either.
Anxiety drives our actions and thoughts, and acts as a protective shield in our lives, like a cradle rocking a baby to sleep.
The more you turn away or run away, the more the fear caused by anxiety increases.
As Woolf famously said, every time we confirm the reality of anxiety, we become a little stronger.
Humans are imperfect beings, and are destined to live with various anxieties.
Learn to live with anxiety.
Life will become more enjoyable.

--- p.204

For modern people living in an age of information overload, the skill of organizing thoughts is a skill that must be learned.
Lao Tzu, author of the Tao Te Ching, which contains the fundamental principles of the universe, sends a message of insight to the world that helps us realize the importance of emptiness and reflection.
If you want to live a simple life, you have to get used to emptying.
Only when we empty ourselves of unnecessary thoughts can we focus on what is important and approach the essence of a simple life.

--- p.251

A routine is not simply a tool for planning your day.
It is a system that helps you live a rich and simple life by reorganizing your life's energy, time, and above all, psychological stability.
As self-help author Robert Collier said, success doesn't fall from the sky one day, but is the fruit of small, repeated efforts.
If you want to feel both fulfilled and free in a complex world, focus on finding the best routine.
Your routine is your life.

Publisher's Review
Where are you wandering around now?
Stop it now, get out of the forest of distracting thoughts!

We live busier lives than any other human being who has ever lived on Earth, yet we are trapped in a swamp of distracting thoughts, lost sight of what truly matters.
I'm wandering 'somewhere', lost.

Ultimately, distracting thoughts are the problem.
Worrying is a fundamental factor that complicates life and hinders happiness.
Representative examples include competition and comparison, obsession with perfectionism, information overload, and anxiety about choice.
Also, regrets about the past, self-reproach from lack of confidence, and the feeling of emptiness after meaningless days can lead us into distracting thoughts.

How much thought does it take to live a happy life? Psychologists say happiness is determined not by the "quantity" of thought, but by its "quality."
One of the misconceptions many people have is that the more they think, the better decisions they will make and the happier they will be.
But this is not true.

Humans are emotional creatures who live with limited resources and limited time.
Excessive thinking can actually lead to unhappiness by amplifying negative emotions like anxiety and regret, as well as draining your energy, reducing your concentration, and clouding your judgment.
You, who are wandering around 'somewhere' today, it's time to break free from the forest of distracting thoughts.
This book will show you the way.

Live a happy life with simple thinking!
How to live a lighter life by letting go of distracting thoughts

To live a happy life, you need 'simple thinking'.
Simple thinking illuminates life more clearly and helps you fully engage in the present moment.
It gives you peace of mind, as if you were escaping the noisy noise of everyday life and listening to the quiet sounds of nature.

If my previous book, "To You Who Worry Too Much," focused on alleviating some of your worries, this book, "To You Who Think Too Much," focuses on how to clear away distracting thoughts with simple thinking and live a light and pleasant life.

This book consists of four chapters.
Chapter 1 is about the distracting thoughts that tire me out, Chapter 2 is about how to get rid of bad habits that cause distracting thoughts, Chapter 3 is about how to protect myself from uncomfortable emotions, and Chapter 4 is about the attitude needed for a simple life. It uses knowledge of psychology, brain science, and humanities to cover this in depth.
In particular, by presenting specific, actionable methods at the end of each section, we have increased the sense of practicality and effectiveness.

You who have a headache because you have too many thoughts, you who can't sleep because your thoughts are tangled, you who are distracted because your thoughts are exploding, now let's simply get rid of those 'thought-tangled thoughts'.
This book will bring you simple, peaceful joy and open the way to a light life.
