Into the book
Michelangelo attempted to create innovative and non-linear work that was far superior to anything he had done before, while also transcending the established standards and norms of his field.
To complete a project at the level he wanted, he had to completely transform not only his skills and creativity, but also his dedication, beliefs, and identity.
He had to take a lot of risks for the 10x project.
This is because it required learning and upgrading unique knowledge and perspectives, such as complex human anatomy and creating life-size human statues.
By the time he finished and sold Hercules, he had become a qualitatively different person than he had been when he started the project at the age of seventeen.
After successfully creating and selling the Hercules statue, he became a completely different person mentally and emotionally, armed with skills and confidence far greater than before.
Professionally, he was in a completely different position than before.
--- p.15, from the author's preface
The greatest artists and entrepreneurs in history know the difference between 10x thinking and 2x thinking.
“So, what happened to those who didn’t make the 10x leap?” you might wonder.
Most people want something more: a promotion, more money, new personal achievements.
A 2x mindset, which pursues incremental progress, means continuing or maintaining what you're already doing.
Let the past decide what to do and how to do it.
Doubling is linear, meaning that doubling your effort will also double your results.
It means doing the same thing more, faster, and harder.
On the other hand, 10x seems so big and impossible that it immediately forces you out of your current mindset and approach.
We can't work 10 times harder or longer.
You can't achieve 10x with indiscriminate effort and linear methods.
10x is a trendy concept in entrepreneurship, investing, and self-improvement.
However, most fundamentally misunderstand what 10x thinking really means and what it can do for you.
In fact, most people understand this 10x mindset literally and exactly backwards.
Given these circumstances, it is natural that we have difficulty applying the 10x to our lives.
If you are stuck in a 2x mindset and are chasing 10x, you will go in the wrong direction and get caught in a never-ending vortex of competition to get more.
First, 10x is not more.
Less is more.
Michelangelo understood this point clearly.
When the Pope asked Michelangelo what the secret of his genius was in relation to the statue of David, he replied:
“It’s simple.
“Just remove everything that is not David.”
Going 10x means simplifying the focus to the core elements.
Then, remove all the rest.
Steve Jobs was a master of radical simplification, the essence of innovation.
When designing the iPod, he eliminated all the aspects of music management that users found inconvenient and provided technology that made the music listening experience ten times better and easier.
--- p.22~23, from the author's preface
There is one most surprising truth you will face in this book.
Intuitively, 10x is much easier than 2x.
It's much simpler than double.
But distinguishing between “easy” and “simple” is harder than you might think.
TS
According to Eliot, “To achieve perfect simplicity is more expensive.” To live simply and easily, we must discard everything in our lives that unnecessarily burdens us.
More specifically, you must throw away everything you truly do not want.
10x is literally a filter that filters out everything that is not 10x, that is, most of life.
If you could just be willing to let go of everything you really don't want, your life would become much easier, simpler, and more successful than it ever has been.
Isn't it scary? It definitely is.
Does it require 100% dedication? Absolutely.
But once you make a decision, everything changes.
How you do something becomes how you do everything else.
10x becomes your filter and new standard.
In this book, you'll discover what 10X is and why it's the most natural, exciting, and powerful way to live.
From now on, you will see yourself and the world completely differently.
You will see your potential and every decision differently.
Even before you finish reading this book, prepare yourself to imagine and articulate a very unique and personal 10X leap that will transform your life.
By setting 10x as your new standard and identity, you begin to filter out those 2x versions of yourself from your past.
There is no end to 10x.
Because freedom has no end.
It's an inner game.
It's an infinite game.
It's a game you can play over and over again.
Only you can decide how far you go and how much you will change.
If you decide to grow 10 times more than you are now, your future self, who has grown 10 times more, will be a different person than you are now.
In a short time, you will enjoy a freedom you cannot even imagine now.
A tenfold increase in the value and quality of your time, money, relationships, and purpose may seem impossible to you now, but it will become a given for you as the master of your tenfold future.
Every time you promise to multiply by 10, you have to go through the same process.
--- p.35~36, from the author's preface
“How can I increase my profits by 10%?”
I once attended an "Entrepreneur Mastermind" group led by marketing expert Joe Polish, and he asked this question and several others.
After thinking about Joe's question for about 5 to 10 minutes, we held a group discussion.
Dr. Alan Barnard, one of the world's leading experts in constraint theory and decision making, also joined us that day.
“Actually, this is a really bad question,” said Dr. Barnard.
The reason was as follows.
There are countless ways to increase your profits by 10%.
But these goals are not enough to focus us and make them concrete.
On the other hand, the question, “How can I increase my profits tenfold?” is much more effective.
Because there aren't many ways to achieve 10x growth.
But the challenging goal of 10x expands our thinking and forces us to find innovative ideas that break the mold.
In fact, it is difficult to achieve amazing results with what you are doing now.
To distinguish between core and periphery, you need to set goals that are so large that they exclude most paths or strategies.
Seemingly impossible goals can help you identify the one or two most likely conditions.
This way, it becomes clear where to focus your scarce resource of attention.
Dr. Barnard recommends setting goals so big that you might think they're impossible.
For example, if an entrepreneur wants to make a million dollars in profits within the next year, Dr. Barnard asks, “Do you think that’s possible?”
The entrepreneur answers, “Yes.”
“How about $10 million in revenue in the next year?” Dr. Barnard suggests.
“Do you think that’s possible?”
“I don’t think so,” the entrepreneur replies.
Dr. Barnard emphasizes:
“That goal is impossible.
But what conditions would need to be met to generate $10 million in revenue within the next year? Then, consider how you can make these "if" conditions a reality.
Entrepreneurs begin to list the conditions necessary to achieve an impossible goal.
These conditions and strategies are what entrepreneurs should focus on if they want the best return on their time and energy, Dr. Barnard points out.
The rest is just noise.

From "10 Times the Power"
Now let's learn about the 10x to 2x framework developed by Dan Sullivan.
If your goal is only to double your income, you can do so while maintaining 80% of your current lifestyle, i.e., doing what you're doing now.
If you're really aiming for double or linear growth, this is what you're going to do.
Doubling growth is mostly about continuing what you've been doing in the past.
2x is linear.
It's not like we're doing anything fundamentally different.
Most of the time, we try to do more of what we do now, better, with as few changes as possible.
But 10x is the exact opposite of 2x.
To achieve 10x, you need to abandon 80% of your current life and focus and go all-in on important, relevant, and high-impact work.
And the same process repeats every time you achieve 10x.
This process is applied every time you do a 10x jump.
(…)
"What if we immediately eliminated the bottom 80%? How long would it take to return to current sales levels?"
After hearing this question and thinking about it, the answer that Dan's client companies commonly gave was "between two and three years."
It's not that long.
Considering that many companies have been in business for decades, this is a really short period of time.

10x mindset,
A shift in thinking that will unleash your potential
“If people click on my videos 10% more often and watch my videos 10% longer, that’s not a 10% increase in views; it’s a 4x increase.”
Mr. Beast, the creator with the most YouTube subscribers in the world, achieved success with this 10x mindset.
With differentiated content planning and editing, a 10% increase in clicks can quadruple the number of views.
He leads a team of over 150 people and generates $1 billion in annual revenue.
But he doesn't edit videos or do any casting.
He leaves everything to his team except for “planning content to increase views,” which he does best.
As a result of Mr. Beast mentoring a YouTuber, the number of video views increased tenfold and the monthly income increased more than tenfold.
“Before he started mentoring, he was making $24,000 a month on YouTube with 4.6 million views.
But after 7-8 months, the views had increased to 45 million, and the monthly income was $400,000.” The same principle applied here.
According to the author, 10x growth starts with “focusing on just 20% of what you’re doing now and improving it 10x.”
A tenfold leap doesn't come from simply working harder and harder.
Rather, it starts with reducing the amount of work but increasing the quality tenfold.
This requires bold choices, focus, and the courage to delegate tasks that don't excite you.
This isn't just a story for YouTube creators.
The world's leading companies, including Amazon, Apple, and Google, have also achieved innovation through a 10x mindset.
They focused on just one business item among numerous others, an area in which they were overwhelmingly good.
And in that field, we created unrivaled value and achieved tenfold growth.
"10x Mindset" triggers the trigger that unleashes your potential.
It doesn't simply force you to work ten times harder.
It confirms that remarkable leaps are possible by changing one's mindset and focusing on a qualitative shift in thinking and behavior rather than increasing effort.
Verified by numerous entrepreneurs,
The author's secret to 10x growth, proven through his own life.
In their new book, 10X Mindset, Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan, authors of the best-selling book "Future Self," emphasize more than just "tremendous effort and dedication."
I don't claim to be a 10x rule of thumb.
Rather, the core principle of “10x Mindset,” which has helped 30,000 entrepreneurs grow over 40 years since the early 1980s, has been summarized into a one-point solution, and it has been organized into a principle that can be used by anyone, including businesspeople, office workers, and students, to experience a qualitative leap in life.
This book is filled with vivid examples of entrepreneurs in various fields who have directly and indirectly coached the authors to apply the 10x mindset.
James Clear, author of "The Power of Tiny Habits," which has sold 10 million copies worldwide, details how he focused on quality over quantity in his writing and consistently focused only on what he does best, which led to his book becoming the number one bestseller in just 11 weeks after its publication.
Stream Logistics founder Carson Holmquist doubled revenue and quadrupled profitability with the same staff by focusing on “high-risk” customers.
Real estate entrepreneur Linda McKissack walks you through her step-by-step journey from a housewife with $600,000 in debt to billions of dollars in annual sales in just 30 years by consistently focusing on the top 20% and boldly abandoning the remaining 80%.
Above all, the authors of this book, Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan, have achieved remarkable results by applying the 10x mindset to their own lives.
The principles that Dan Sullivan used to help 30,000 people at his entrepreneurial coaching company overcome difficulties with counterintuitive insights are also based on the 10x mindset introduced in this book.
The authors are not simply coaches who teach others, but true '10x players' who have practiced and proven themselves.
Ultimately, the reason his coaching was able to be effective was because he had proven and evolved the 10x strategy through his own life.
The principle of earning more while working less,
And you too can do it
We often think that to earn more money, we have to work more and longer.
But the core of the “10x Mindset” is “earning more while working less.”
Doubling the effort requires more time, but a tenfold leap brings more freedom.
This is not just a slogan, but a truth that has already been proven through many cases.
Warren Buffett, CEO of global investment firm Berkshire Hathaway, is known to work only five hours a week.
However, his net worth is a whopping $133 billion (approximately 177 trillion won).
Buffett practices selection and focus in decision-making, focusing only on his strengths, investing.
He is the epitome of a 10x player.
Google founder Larry Page is a similar case.
Even after Google grew significantly, he kept meeting time to a minimum.
Instead, he invested his time researching future technologies and mapping out Google's long-term vision.
Page has built Google into a world-class company by focusing on quality over quantity.
For those who are determined to significantly improve the quality of their lives and careers, rather than simply focusing on work efficiency (a 2x mindset), they should focus their efforts on innovative ideas that can create tenfold value for the company.
10x Humans don't split their work into 24 hours a day.
Rather, they drastically reduce the time they spend on work and use that time strategically.
Focusing on what matters most, on what creates differentiated value, is the secret to 10x.
Tenfold growth doesn't simply mean doing things 'better'.
When you arm yourself with a 10x mindset, the way you work changes.
A system transition is taking place.
In a new way, doing only the most essential things.
This is the secret of 10x.
The 10x miracle of earning more while working less, now it's your turn.
This book, “10x Mindset,” will provide the starting point for putting it into practice.
Design a 10x life with a 10x mindset.
The moment you have a tenfold vision, your potential has already begun to ignite.
- “This book was the biggest turning point in my life.
