Description
Book Introduction
The founder of a philosophy of success that has changed the lives of 100 million readers worldwide.
Napoleon Hill's One Question for You
“What kind of thoughts are you living with now?”
His true message, sealed for 75 years, is revealed for the first time!
“Napoleon Hill’s philosophy will be of great help to those who do not have the time or know how to discover the causes of success and failure on their own.”
― Theodore Roosevelt, 26th President of the United States
“Napoleon Hill dedicated his life to perfecting his philosophy of success.
“Anyone who has devoted themselves to one thing for a long time is bound to impart valuable insight and wisdom to others.”
― Woodrow Wilson, 28th President of the United States
“If I had known Napoleon Hill’s philosophy of success 50 years ago, I would have achieved what I have now in less than half the time.”
—Robert Dollar, founder of Dollar Shipping
When Napoleon Hill's first book, The Laws of Success, came out in 1928, people thought it was just another book on success secrets.
But now, nearly a century later, the book is considered more than just a self-help book; it is a work of philosophy and a classic on the human spirit.
In the despair of the Great Depression, he held on to the belief that "you become what you think" and systematized what would become one of the most influential success philosophies in American history.
It was the result of directly interacting with the world's wealthiest people of the time, such as Carnegie, Edison, Rockefeller, and Ford, and persistently exploring their ways of thinking and principles of action.
There was a manuscript that he had written during his lifetime but never published.
This manuscript, which had not seen the light of day for 75 years, was recently compiled and published for the first time in English under the title 『The 12 Miracles of Life』, and in Korea, it was finally able to reach the hands of countless Napoleon Hill readers under the title 『You Will Be What You Set Your Mind To Be』.
This book contains the last philosophical thoughts Hill wanted to leave behind about the deep inner workings of human existence before he passed away.
It doesn't just talk about how to make money or how to develop successful habits.
This book reflects on why humans must live, how to live a truly peaceful and fulfilling life, and how to maintain dignity even in the midst of trials and suffering.
The first chapter of the book begins with a story about 'belief'.
Hill views faith not as a mere emotion, but as the most powerful creative energy within human beings.
His statement, “What you truly believe becomes your reality,” was not an empty hope, but the result of thorough observation and experimentation.
And in the chapters that follow, a philosophy unfolds that views all aspects of life as miraculous: the laws of change, growth through hardship, the lessons of failure and sorrow, the transformation of sexual energy, time and death, and even the fundamental freedom of human existence.
What's surprising is that the topics he covered are in line with today's neuroscience, psychology, and self-help theories.
His argument that pain necessarily leads to growth and that instincts should be transformed into creativity rather than suppressed is also in line with the current concepts of 'energy conversion theory' and 'psychological resilience.'
Above all, he advises that instead of avoiding hardship, we should face it head on and find something to learn from it.
“Failure can open doors to new opportunities, and through the ‘trial and error method,’ it can also provide insight into reality.” Whenever I encounter sentences like these, I realize that Hill was not simply someone who taught how to succeed, but a thinker who had insight into human life itself.
Now I ask again.
“What kind of thoughts are you living with now?” Hill asks.
The thoughts you hold create your tomorrow.
This book is not just the last words of a legendary author from the past.
That may be the question each reader must ask himself at this moment, and the only principle that can change his life.

Into the book
** One day my grandfather went to the chicken coop with some corn, scattered it on the dirt floor, and began to carefully cover it with straw.
When I asked my grandfather why he went to such lengths, he said this.
“There are two good reasons.
First, covering corn with straw causes the chickens to scratch the ground for it, which provides them with much-needed exercise.
Second, I wanted to give the chickens the pleasure of feeling smart when they found the corn I had hidden.”
** The most important key to determining whether you will lead your life with peace of mind or remain a wanderer in endless frustration and pain is your mindset.
Attitude is not just a direction of thought, it is an invisible current that moves your entire being.
So, what face life presents to us is not a matter of fate, but of the attitude we choose every day.
** The human soul cries out around us:
“Wake up.
Look at yourself.
Shake off the old habits you've been holding onto.
Otherwise, those habits will chain you like chains, and you may end up having to be born again to start a new life.
If you wish to fulfill your mission in this life, you must embrace the great law of change and continually grow.”
** My grandfather was a carriage builder.
When he cleared the forest to make way for a field, my grandfather would deliberately leave a few oak trees in the middle of the field.
This is because only trees exposed to such harsh nature can become strong spokes that do not break even when bent.
Trees that grow up protected in the forest have soft interiors and break easily.
An environment that is not difficult for the tree to grow in makes it weak.
The same goes for people.
A life without difficulties makes a person weak.
** In his final years, Carnegie gave away most of his enormous fortune, which amounted to a whopping $1 billion, to society.
Before he passed away, in our last conversation, he said this to me:
“I have given back most of the wealth I have accumulated over my life to the people who helped me build it – the public.
But that money is nothing compared to the true legacy I leave behind in this world.
The real legacy I leave behind is the 'Know-how of Success', and I entrust that knowledge to you.
And now, the mission to convey that wisdom to the world is yours.”
** The world is generous in forgiving human mistakes and temporary defeats.
However, this only applies to those who truly accept it as 'temporary' and continue to challenge themselves.
But if you give up halfway when things get difficult, there is no excuse for that.
This is the true motto that life tells us.
“Winners never give up, and those who give up never win!”
** Sadness, like love, purifies the soul of the one who experiences it.
And it gives us the courage and faith to face struggles and trials in this world full of chaos and confusion.
But only if you can accept that sadness as a blessing rather than a curse.
Resentment over sadness not only causes physical illness, but also alienates relationships with those around us.
** Over the past 20 years, while establishing the 'Science of Success', I have interviewed over 500 successful people representing the United States.
The biggest difference between them and ordinary people is that they possessed powerful sensual energy and knew how to transform it into creative energy.
They channeled their powerful creative energy, their sensual desires, into achieving their goals in their careers, businesses, and callings, achieving a satisfaction comparable to sexual climax.
In other words, rather than just pursuing unconditional abstinence, they have the ability to convert this creative energy into other goals instead of physical contact.
** Time ripens the grain in the fields and the fruit on the trees, transforming them for human survival and enjoyment.
Time also calms the impatient mind and allows for rational thinking.
Time is a cycle of trial and error, allowing us to learn the laws of nature and gain valuable lessons.
Time is the most precious asset we possess.
Because you can never be certain of owning even a single second, anytime, anywhere.
Right now, this one moment is all we have in our hands.
** If you understand the 'Law of Change' that governs the infinite changes of all things in the universe, you can accept death as both an inevitability and a blessing.
In this universe where everything is constantly being created and destroyed, life that does not change forever cannot coexist in the first place.
We are all just a piece of the universe.
Therefore, our desires and choices are freedoms that are only permitted during the brief moment called 'life'.
How we use this opportunity is entirely up to us.

How the 12 Miracles of Thought Lead to Success in Life
Napoleon Hill's last masterpiece that no one has read,
Now you are the first reader!
When you're young, the world seems pretty simple.
I believe that if you work hard, things will go well and your good nature will be recognized.
But as we grow older, the world moves out of sync with our expectations, and we become more accustomed to doubting ourselves.
When you feel like you're starting to feel skeptical about life, there's something you absolutely must read.
This is the book written by Napoleon Hill, the founder of the success theory, at the end of his life.
This unpublished manuscript, which had been dormant for 75 years, has finally come to light.
Over the course of 20 years, Hill personally interviewed and deeply researched over 500 of the most successful people of his time to develop the mindset of the wealthy.
Based on this, he established twelve timeless, immutable laws of life and captured their essence in this book.
And even at this very moment, it offers powerful insight to those who have lost their way in life.
This book emphasizes the power of faith and growth to awaken the inner ability to stand up for yourself in any difficulty.
This is the path to true freedom and success, as told by Napoleon Hill.
He argues that although the world we live in may seem to flow by chance, it actually operates within a precise and precise natural order.
Nature is not a random chaos, but a system that operates toward a clear purpose, and humans are also included in it.
This is a thought that completely overturns the modern person's sense of meaninglessness, that 'I am a being thrown away without meaning.'
In this book, Hill says:
“The world moves as we think.
Life is not a fixed destiny, but a story that you create in the direction you believe in.
“Failure is not a failure, but a lesson; sadness is a window that opens the inner self; desire is the spark of creation; and death is the boundary that allows us to live life seriously.” This book reminds us that the common sense and emotional order we believe in can actually be interpreted completely differently.
If he is right, what we need most in our lives right now is not more planning or effort, but rather 'firm thinking.'
Because thoughts become reality.
And that thought started the moment I opened this book.
“If you change your thoughts, your life will definitely change.”
Belief, change, hardship, failure, sadness, time, instinct, freedom…
12 Hidden Miracles of Thought in Every Aspect of Life
This book addresses the essentials of life—belief, growth, and struggle—and shows how to create miracles even in the midst of trials and failures.
Hill says that belief is the seed of miracles.
It's not just about wishing, it's about believing that from the moment you do something, it begins to prepare to become reality.
“True faith is not a mere wish, but a power that demands its own fulfillment.” No matter how creaky reality may be, we finally realize that if we do not believe in ourselves, no one will be able to replace us.
And change.
This is a fate that no one can escape.
He said, “Change is the law of the universe, and all growth is possible only through change.”
If you keep feeling worn out, it may be your body's signal to change.
Life, as always, presents itself with hardships.
It's time to stop asking, "Why me?"
Hill said.
“Pain refines a person to his purest form.” One day, you may admit that if you hadn’t been through this hardship, you would have been a lesser person.
There are moments in life that cannot be explained.
A sudden epiphany, a word from someone, an inexplicable intuition.
Hill called them "invisible inner guides."
“In life, there is a guide who is invisible but always walks with you.” Sometimes, it seems that you need to follow that feeling rather than reason to avoid getting lost.
We think of nature as a coincidence, but there is a clear purpose and law within it.
Hill says that, like the natural order, humans too should live according to their own purpose.
“Nature, even in chaos, always works toward a precise purpose.” Even wandering may ultimately have a direction.
His passages, especially those about sexual energy, are surprisingly profound.
“The most powerful instincts can be transformed into creative achievements.” Not to suppress or ignore, but to transform them into higher creations.
That would be the only human way to transcend instinct.
Time always seems to pass too slowly, but when it passes, it feels like it passed too quickly.
He wrote about time:
“Time is nature’s medicine that heals all wounds.” Whatever hurts now, whatever despairs now, time will eventually take hold of it and pass it away.
The fact that life is finite may be life's greatest truth.
Hill was not afraid of death.
“For those who have realized the meaning of life, death is not the end, but a new invitation.” The existence of death is also a reason to live each day more firmly.
The last miracle he spoke of was about freedom.
Beyond nations and systems, humans can live according to their own thoughts and will.
He said that the greatest miracle we must protect is the human right to think and choose for ourselves.
After closing the book, readers will have these thoughts:
A miracle is not something far away, but a quiet possibility that has been within you for a long time.
If we carefully reflect on the twelve miracles of life whenever life becomes difficult and tiring, we will surely gain the strength to live once again and achieve true freedom and success.
