Adults need 'adults' too
A touching and grateful record to remember a good adult.

- Over 1,000 scholarship recipients have received scholarships over the past several decades.
- Support for the establishment of Myeongsin High School and the construction of Gyeongsang National University's Nammyeong Hall
- Support for local cultural projects such as the Pyeongpyeong Movement Memorial Foundation and the Jinju Cultural Research Institute.
- Support for local media and Jinju Library projects
- Support for the Jinju Domestic Violence Counseling Center and the movement to abolish the household head system
- After 60 years of service, he retired and donated all of his assets.

It is a well-known fact in the region that Mr. Kim Jang-ha supported students from underprivileged backgrounds.
However, the fact that there were over 1,000 'Kim Jang-ha Kids' who benefited from it was only revealed during the documentary filming process.
They come from all walks of life, including Constitutional Court Justice Moon Hyung-bae, professors, journalists, teachers, and social activists.
The scholarship started with a handwritten letter, a single word.
When a student said they needed it, I just put the money in an envelope and handed it to them.
When I said I needed tuition, all I could say was, “Use it wisely.”
No interference, no price paid.
He showed his trust by his presence rather than his money, by his constant support rather than his words.
Not just scholarship students.
The civic cultural activities supported for decades, such as the Jinju Youth Literature Society, Jinju Newspaper, Jinju Library, the theater company "Hyeonjang," the Korean Federation for Environmental Movements, the Equality Movement Memorial Association, the publication of a list of people from the Japanese colonial period, and the erection of Kang Sang-ho's tombstone, have quietly but firmly supported the spiritual infrastructure of the region.
Regarding what he had done, he quietly stepped back to the edge, saying, “Never say that I did it.”
Although they understood the teacher's intentions, they opened their mouths and said, "We must leave it on record now because someone may appear who wants to distort history."
It's not formal or flashy, but that makes it all the more authentic.

He provided countless scholarships to poor students, but he never held an event or took pictures.

Mr. Kim Jang-ha is a person who always takes a step back, leaving behind words like, “If you give, that’s enough,” and “If you’re going to repay, repay it to our society.”

Kim Jang-ha, a herbalist who ran Namseongdang Pharmacy in Jinju, Gyeongnam for 60 years, donated all of his wealth to society and helped many people without ever giving an interview.
A person who never buys a single piece of clothing for himself, a person who rides a bicycle and walks throughout his life without owning a car, an adult Kim Jang-ha.
Born into poverty, he worked as a clerk at a herbal medicine shop in Samcheonpo, cutting medicine during the day and studying at night.
He became the youngest person to obtain a license as a herbal medicine practitioner, and ran a herbal medicine shop from 1963 until the end of May 2022, donating the money he earned to the community.
“If you pile up excrement, it will stink, but if you scatter it, it will become fertilizer and make flowers bloom and bear fruit.
Money is the same way. It's only when you share it with others that society flourishes." The elder's virtuous life cannot be captured in a single sentence. Without the seven years of reporting by MBC Gyeongnam and reporter Kim Joo-wan, the story of such a remarkable adult would never have been recorded.
