Book Introduction
Unraveling 'Children + Comics' through Comic Criticism!
The only critical journal that explores the past, present, and future of children's comics through comic criticism!

Will the cheerful cartoons that have become memories for middle-aged and older people also become memories for children today?
What kind of comics would children familiar with webtoon platforms want?
What defines a "good" children's comic from a "bad" one?

The 22nd issue of the webtoon critique magazine "Now, Manhwa" featured a cover story on the changes and characteristics of Korean children's comics over time, focusing on the representative children's comic, "Cheerful Manhwa."
Is the current shift in the content consumption market from the publishing industry to the webtoon industry a crisis or an opportunity for children's comics?
What direction will children's comics take in the future?
Additionally, you can learn about recent trends in comics and children's literature, which have different content but share the common audience of "children."

In the critique of children's comics, 'Critic' analyzed Ha Min-seok's "The Animal Chronicle," Mac Barnett and Sean Harrison's "The First Cat in Space, Tasting Pizza," Ban Ban's "Alpalli," and Kim Bo-tong's "The Adventures of Butterfly," and pointed out the appeal and social necessity of children's comics.
In Jeongwon's "Smart, But Sometimes I Don't Know", we examine children as "social citizens" through the lives of eleven-year-old Jeonghoon and his friends.

In the 'Interview' corner, you can meet 'hip' interviewees who are inseparable from children.
Seo Beom-gang, the founder and CEO of Ainamu Toon, Korea's only children's webtoon platform, and Chairman of the Korea Webtoon Industry Association, explains in detail the reasons why children's webtoons were able to settle and develop in Korea, the direction in which children's webtoons will move forward, and the current state of the global webtoon industry.
In an interview with cartoonist Lee Bin, who drew the popular cartoon “Hello Jadoo,” you can hear about the growth story of “Hello Jadoo,” which was first introduced to the world in 1997, and about “Hello Jadoo Season 2,” which brought changes to the story to mark its 27th anniversary in August.
Eunhee Jo, CEO of Hansol Subuk, provides a detailed overview of the changes and future of the children's comics publishing market.

In 'This Kind of Comics for This Time', we included a curation of comic recommendations from celebrities with the theme of 'Summer', and in 'My One Corner', CEO Kim Yu-sik of DC Inside, famous for his role as 'Brother Yu-sik', shared an episode about 'Manager Shima', and reporter Heo Seo-hyeon of Monthly Guest House introduced the insights she felt in life through an essay about the webtoon 'Ho!'.
Also, in 'Cartoon × ____', the cartoons "Dust Planet" and "Clear Distance" and the OST of the movie "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937) were highlighted to discuss the harmony and synergy between cartoons and music.
In '〈Now Comics〉 Pick', comics critics introduce 'hip' comics selected for 〈Now Comics〉 readers.
