Development Rainbow
Development Rainbow
Description
Book Introduction
This is a developmental profile that lists the behaviors that infants and toddlers can exhibit in their daily lives between birth and approximately 60 months, divided into five developmental areas.
The Developmental Rainbow divides children's development into five subcategories (i.e., cognitive, language, social, motor, and adaptive) and presents items corresponding to each of the 11 age categories.
The developmental behaviors included in the book are differentiated in that they focus on pivotal behaviors that are fundamental to development for achieving cognitive and learning achievements, rather than discrete behaviors that aim for cognitive and learning achievements, and are divided into subcategories.

Publisher's Review
The Developmental Rainbow is a developmental profile that lists the behaviors that infants and toddlers can exhibit in their daily lives between birth and approximately 60 months, organized into five developmental areas.
The Developmental Rainbow divides children's development into five subcategories (i.e., cognitive, language, social, motor, and adaptive) and presents items corresponding to each of the 11 age categories.
There are already many publications containing lists of childhood developmental behaviors.
However, the developmental behaviors included in the developmental rainbow are differentiated in that they are divided into subcategories by focusing on pivotal behaviors that are fundamental to development for achieving such achievements, rather than discrete behaviors that aim for cognitive learning achievements.
These pivotal behaviors are behaviors that can be observed during natural life episodes (e.g., eating, asking for a snack, playing, taking a bath).
These may help us to predict behaviors that may be observed in the child's daily life or that may occur in the future.
The developmental rainbow presents children's development levels by dividing them into 11 age-related categories, and the age-related development range of each stage is categorized from 3 months to as large as 12 months, taking into account individual differences in child development.
