Art Psychology Diagnosis and Evaluation
Art Psychology Diagnosis and Evaluation
Description
Book Introduction
『Art Psychology Diagnosis and Evaluation』 is the product of academic and clinical efforts to understand the human psychological world through the symbolic expression of art.
Art is more than just a simple artistic activity; it serves as a window into the client's emotions and unconsciousness, and is an important means of revealing feelings, thoughts, and memories that are difficult to express in words.
Based on the essence of art, we sought to systematically develop the theory and practice of utilizing drawings made by clients as tools for psychological diagnosis and evaluation.

Publisher's Review
『Art Psychology Diagnosis and Evaluation』 is the product of academic and clinical efforts to understand the human psychological world through the symbolic expression of art.
Art is more than just a simple artistic activity; it serves as a window into the client's emotions and unconsciousness, becoming an important means of revealing feelings, thoughts, and memories that are difficult to express in words.
Based on the essence of art, we sought to systematically develop the theory and practice of utilizing drawings by clients as tools for psychological diagnosis and evaluation.

The need for art therapy in clinical settings is growing today.
From children and adolescents to adults and the elderly, our diverse clientele captures their inner worlds in their own unique ways.
However, the process of clinically interpreting and understanding their drawings requires both professional knowledge and clinical intuition.
Interpreting a painting is not simply a list of symbols; it requires an integrated approach that comprehensively considers the client's development, emotional state, family relationships, and life context.
This book presents such an integrated interpretation perspective and aims to provide assessment guidelines that can be applied directly in clinical settings.
In particular, this book covers a wide range of projective drawing tests frequently used in clinical settings, such as the House-Tree-Person Test (HTP), the Dynamic Family Drawing Test (KFD), the Apple Picker Drawing Test (PPAT), the People in the Rain Drawing Test (PITR), the Star-Wave Drawing Test (SWT), the Bird's Nest Drawing Test (BND), the Story Drawing Test (DAS), and the Mandala Drawing Test (MDT).
In this process, we sought to consider the limitations and possibilities of not only tests with relatively systematic interpretation methods and evaluation criteria, but also tests that face difficulties in clinical application due to subjectivity of interpretation and cultural context.

I hope this book will serve as a guide that can be of wide help not only to art therapists, but also to counseling psychologists, clinical psychologists, special education teachers, social workers, and students majoring in art therapy or seeking to utilize art in clinical settings.
Furthermore, by clearly presenting standardized guidelines and interpretation factors for each test, we hope that it will serve as a basis for a more objective and multifaceted evaluation of the client's picture.
