Into the book
“Father, make me weak.
Let go of the hand that holds on to all things temporary.
My life, my honor, my possessions.
Lord, help me to relax my clenched hands.
Father, let me lose even the love that touches me.
I can't tell you how many times I've let go of a 'harmless' craving I've cherished, only to have it picked up again with a caressing hand.
Rather, let me stretch out my hands and receive the nails of Calvary.
Just as Christ did.
By letting go of everything, may I also be free and break free from everything that binds me now.
The Lord did not think of something to hold in his hand, but of heaven, of equality with God.
“Please let me go like that.”
“These days, the battle of the soul is intense.
I am skeptical about the truth that God cares for the world.
Perhaps it is because the evidence of His power in the gospel is weak.
Yesterday morning I found great comfort in realizing that my remaining faith is based on facts, especially the resurrection of Christ.
“If He has not risen from the dead, my faith is useless.” _ Jim Elliot's Diary

Publisher's Review
A timeless bestseller that has awakened millions of sleeping souls over the past 50 years!
- Recommended by Billy Graham, Ok Han-heum, Lee Dong-won, and Richard Foster
“He is no fool who gives up what cannot last to gain what cannot last.”
“To obey is to know Him.
Obedience is an expression of love for God.
To obey means to abide in God.
If we abide in Him, we too will walk as Jesus walked.
Jim's goal was to know God.
His way was obedience.
Obedience was the only way to achieve his goals.
Some call Jim's ending a special death.
But whenever he spoke of death, Jim would quietly point out that many people had died in obedience to God.
People hailed Jim and those who died with him as heroes and martyrs.
I don't agree.
They themselves would not agree.
Is there such a difference between living for Christ and dying for Christ? Isn't the latter a logical consequence of the former? Living for God is, in the words of the Apostle Paul, a daily death.
It is to lose everything to gain Christ.
When we give up our lives in this way, we get them back.
I believe Jim Elliot was one of those people.
His letters and diary are the concrete basis for my belief.
These are not words that I can hold on to alone.
It is part of the story of humanity and the story of one man's relationship with the Almighty.
It's a true story.” _Elizabeth Elliot
