Book Introduction
The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty recreated through messenger,
『Joseon Dynasty Annals』 Volume 4 published!

『Joseon Dynasty Annals』 is a groundbreaking historical cartoon in which characters from 『Joseon Dynasty Annals』 have conversations through a virtual chat window called 'Toktalk'.
The response was so enthusiastic that in 2015, people even said, "Korea is in the middle of a real-life conversation," and that response even led to the publication of a book.
Volumes 1, 2, and 3 took first place in the history section of online bookstores as soon as they were published.
'Joseon Baekseong Siltok', published in three volumes along with the story of the royal family, also received favorable reviews as it allowed readers to learn about the lives of the common people who played a pivotal role in history and the culture of the Joseon Dynasty.

The webtoon "Joseon Dynasty Real Talk" is so high-quality that you can learn about history just by reading the best comments, as not only history book readers but also Korean history majors and history nerds leave comments.
It is no exaggeration to say that almost everyone who likes history is watching <Siltalk>, as it provides explanations of the parts that <Siltalk> did not cover, as well as historical interpretations.
Even those who are not usually interested in history or find it difficult to understand will find it difficult to escape the excitement once they are immersed in 'Conversations of Those in the Joseon Dynasty.'
After the publication of the first volume, it became a hot topic not only among general readers but also among researchers and history teachers. In fact, over 1,000 middle and high schools participated in reading 『Joseon Dynasty Siltok』, and it is being used in various ways as a history class material.

Publisher's Review
The Joseon family that became separated
Let's meet 'Survival of Horan'
『Joseon Dynasty Real Talk』 is a historical educational comic series that reconstructs Joseon history in chronological order. It divides the kings that formed the Joseon Dynasty into nine families, and gives each family a character that matches their historical characteristics.
The main characters of Volume 4 of 『Joseon Dynasty Siltalk』 are the Manchu families who went through the Byeongja Horan and Jeongmyo Horan, following the Sahwa family (Jungjong, Myeongjong) and the Imjin War family (Seonjo, Gwanghaegun) covered in Volume 2.
Volume 4 contains the story of King Injo, who staged a rebellion, drove out King Gwanghaegun, and became king, but suffered humiliating defeats in the two Manchu invasions; Crown Prince Sohyeon, who was taken to Shenyang in the Qing Dynasty as a result of the defeat in the Manchu invasions and returned after serving as a prisoner, but was rejected by Joseon; and the story of King Hyojong's family, who, like his brother, served as a prisoner in Shenyang and spent the rest of their lives preparing for the Northern Expedition after becoming king.
Although the Manchu War family gave a greater sense of defeat than the Imjin War, the story of the unfortunate Crown Prince Sohyeon, who encountered Qing Dynasty culture in Shenyang, is not well known, so it is also interesting to hear about it anew.
Like the previous volumes, Professor Lee Han's 'Silok Magnifier' provides a more detailed and enriched understanding of the mid-Joseon period.
