A couple listens while recording their life
To the happiness that suits me well
A story that gets a little closer

“A book that helps you find something special in ordinary lives” “I want to live like this couple” The essay “Recording Life”, which was greatly loved immediately after its publication amid reader responses such as “I want to live like this couple”, has been published as a “separate yet together” cover edition.
The wife's character is on the front cover, and the husband's character is on the back cover, so just looking at them makes you laugh.
The cover is composed of a couple who provide each other with strong support even when they are apart.

This book contains over 40 daily records of the couple's "clues to happiness" who always manage to hold on to a smile even in the bittersweet reality.
Along with the illustrations he wrote and drew himself, he honestly and warmly included anecdotes about proposals that made people laugh and touch their hearts, the process of preparing for the wedding, moments when they overcame difficulties in life together, and even their own methods of reconciliation.
Happiness between two people is not created by a perfect fit or an abundance of possessions, but by a good effort to fill each day with laughter and to become closer to consideration and understanding.

“There are no pretty clothes or fancy houses in our videos.
There is only the sound of singing that shows excitement rather than skill and the sound of good-natured laughter.
Still, many people find happiness in it.
Ultimately, wasn't what we longed for someone who could embrace even our own shortcomings? These days, I'm once again pondering what a truly happy and meaningful life would be, not one the world desires, but one that's truly mine." _From the text

Into the book
The seaweed soup after working overtime, the bathing that was so urgent... I don't know if there are any other old-school couples who get all worked up and polished the day before their wedding like we did, but personally, when preparing for a wedding, I definitely recommend 'sasemi' as well as 'sudme'.
Sauna, washing, and seaweed soup.

--- p.46 From "For me, 'Sasemi' is better than 'Sudme'"

“Yeah, I’ll wake up a little early and have tea time before work!” That’s how our ‘morning tea time’ started, inspired by the drama.
The idea was to start the day with a leisurely cup of warm tea.
The first attempt was quite awkward.
We sat facing each other with a teapot in front of us, but it was still dark outside in early spring and the air was chilly.
I was staring blankly while the car was waiting for me to get going, and when I suddenly looked at my husband, he had a blank expression on his face, as if he had no idea where he was or what time it was.
I guess dramas and reality are completely different.
--- p.53 From "Like a Morning in a Drama"

Sometimes, I use this kind of situational drama to subtly tell the other person something that upset me or something I wanted to say.
There are still times when it's a little difficult to live together and say things you don't like to each other.
I tried to carefully say, “Please don’t be offended by me saying this,” but my wife’s expression turned sour even before I could say anything.
But I'm afraid of the consequences of saying, "Let's do it like this from now on!"
My wife has probably learned this skill from living with me, and when she says something unpleasant, she tries to add an appropriate amount of laughter and lightness.

--- p.73 From “I Like Tteokbokki”

My husband must have seen my shortcomings, but he always covers them up.
Sometimes I get the illusion that they only see my good points.
If you think about it that far, you will end up responding to his AI-style apology by saying, “I’m sorry too.”
Any act of reconnection and reconciliation is for good.
We are flawed people, struggling to be good, somewhere in the middle of uncertainty between good and evil.
So we need to smooth out each other's rough edges and cover them well.
I should also learn from his courage in always apologizing first.
--- pp.79-80 From "My Husband and I Fight Every Time"

The moments that are deeply engraved in our hearts are not those of famous restaurants or world-famous tourist attractions, but those of us laughing brightly like innocent children.
Such things can happen anywhere, anytime, even if it is not necessarily a special place or time.
It can happen when you're making coffee in the kitchen, eating a meal, or singing in the car.
No special preparation is required.
All you need is a cheerful heart that can laugh lightly.

--- pp.131-133 From "Light and Cheerful Like a Snowflake"

The year after my grandmother passed away, I got married.
It may sound a bit funny to say, but my husband is like a maternal grandmother to me.
When I come home from work after a long day of being overwhelmed by work and people and having no energy to say anything, my husband just looks at my face and hugs me, saying, “You had a hard day.”
Someone who can comfort me when times are tough, someone who will take my side even when the world criticizes me.
It is a great blessing to have even one such person by your side.
If you haven't met that person yet, there is a good way.
I become that kind of being to someone first.
--- p.203 From “A Husband Like My Grandmother”

My wife is a person with clear standards of her own.
No matter how cool and good people were waving it around in front of him, if it didn't meet his standards, he didn't pay attention.
My wife's appearance, seeing the world through her own eyes, seemed to shine with health.
If I lived like a supporting actor in a blurry background, swept away here and there, my wife seemed to live the life of a protagonist with a distinct color.
I wanted to be like that wife.
--- pp.207-208 From “Love Your Wife More”

Finding a way to smile even on a 'wrong path'
The clue to happiness discovered by a couple

In the 40 or so stories told alternately from the perspectives of a husband and wife, the word 'laughter' appears particularly frequently.
Laughter erupts from the 'wrong path', sadness is blown away with a 'snicker' by borrowing a funny situational comedy, and a cheerful clue is discovered to escape from unexpected trials and find happiness, and a 'way to laugh' is found.
Because I know that just having a “cheerful heart that laughs lightly” can make your day happier.

The couple experienced seven failures before creating the channel "Recording Life," and the romantic proposal was followed by the reality of not being able to afford even a small house. However, each time, the couple held hands tightly and supported each other with endless encouragement.
The couple's daily life is filled with laughter as they "are deeply happy with even the small achievements we achieve together" and "find the joy of slowly drawing on a blank canvas, one by one." "There's nothing special about it," they say.
Just as they discover wildflowers blooming on the side of a busy road, the two of them cheerfully cross the tightrope of life, amidst the small joys they have created themselves.

“Even if difficulties arise in the future,
We are from each other
I believe you can find the answer.
As it has been until now.” _From the text

“My husband and I fight all the time.”
How we treat each other's differences

Even these couples, who became many people's dream couples through loving conversations that fit together like soulmates, had moments of 'fighting'.
At the end of an argument where they felt a deeper resentment because they couldn't understand each other, and sometimes because they couldn't understand each other, the couple learned to accept their differences.
We look back on “my shortcomings” that we want to point out, feel grateful for the other person’s generosity in “covering up my mistakes,” learn “the courage to apologize,” and learn to emulate each other’s good points.

After reading this book, you will realize that their love, which is as comfortable and stable as a stew that has been simmered for a long time, is the result of their consideration and effort for each other.
“Even when the other person has an odd idea, I’ll gladly accept it,” and even when “they say something sharp and barbed,” they embrace each other tenderly, with a broad love that understands the sincerity behind the words, and the ups and downs and hatred between the two are gently smoothed out.
This is why laughter bursts out at the 'tiki-taka' that blossoms from the hearts of those who care for each other, but tears well up in your eyes before you know it.

“We live in an uncertain place somewhere between good and evil.
They are flawed people who try to be good.
So we need to smooth out each other's rough edges and cover them well.”

Pour coffee, take a walk, sing a song
How to get closer to the happiness that suits you best

When we focus on outward happiness, we sometimes neglect the happiness that fills our inner self.
The reason I keep wanting to watch the couple's daily life while recording their life is because it reminds me of "a life that is truly happy and meaningful only for me" that already exists within us but has not been put into practice.
Walking in sync with your partner can give you a moment of peace and relaxation, away from the busyness of living a life that's been focused on meeting "someone else's standards," like having pretty clothes, a nice house, or a great spouse.

Remembering that it is not famous restaurants or tourist attractions, but the small moments when “we laughed brightly like innocent children” that truly fill our hearts, the two diligently practice “happiness that suits me.”
Let's follow the daily life of a couple who show us that happiness comes more often in the simple moments of making coffee in the morning, eating breakfast, and singing in the car, and that it comes from quietly spending time together.
You'll find yourself cherishing the "fun moments of life" without ever pressing the record button.
