Book Introduction
"My Friendly Art Book," which contains over 100 works by 60 leading artists in art history, presents a wide spectrum of artworks spanning time, space, and genre, from medieval to modern art.
Furthermore, it is not limited to simple paintings, but encompasses a variety of genres, including sculptures by Louise Bourgeois and Giacometti, installation art by Judy Chicago, and photography by Cindy Sherman.

Although all of the main characters in her works are African American, she portrays skin color in this way so as not to draw attention to skin color or judge people by race.

Smith included only the names of places on his map that originated from Native American languages.
The reason the borders dividing the states are obscured by the flowing paint is because they didn't exist until European settlers arrived in the late 1400s.
They were called colonists because they took the land for themselves to live on.
So who was there before? Smith's paintings prompt us to consider the people who originally inhabited the land before its plunder, and the countless layers of history that have formed there.
