Kim Hyun-chul's Advanced Classic Dang
Kim Hyun-chul's Advanced Classic Dang
Description
Book Introduction
“This book shows how familiar and moving classical music can be, and through his story, we can once again feel the power of music in our daily lives.” _Lim Du-sik, conductor and artistic director of Art Namu Company

Among so-called 'classical illiterates', the perception that classical music is boring and difficult is common.
This is because there is no background knowledge to calmly listen to music that continues for a long time, and there are no lyrics, making it difficult to intuitively empathize with it.
Regarding this, Kim Hyun-chul says, “Just as no matter how long a novel is, once you get into the story, you end up reading it all the way through, if you think of classics as ‘stories with a beginning, development, climax, and conclusion,’ you can feel rich emotions.”
In that sense, the performances of the orchestra conducted by Kim Hyun-chul have the appeal of making people of all ages laugh and be moved by the music, even without basic knowledge of classical music.

This book provides readers with an opportunity to approach classical music in a more familiar and accessible way by listening to the music themselves and reading the stories that Kim Hyun-chul tells in an entertaining way.
It also allows us to feel the meaning and power of music in our daily lives.

Publisher's Review
Enjoyably 'listen, enjoy, and taste'
40 classical music pieces reflecting Kim Hyun-chul's tastes

Part 1 of the book introduces classical music that is relatively familiar to us as an appetizer to a course meal, from the 'Carmen Overture' that I first heard on a record player, to 'Traumerei' that reminds me of a popular song, 'Ruslan and Ludmila' that the author only learned the title of after 10 years, and the history of classical music that only Kim Hyun-chul needs to know.

Part 2 introduces composers who are still much loved today, and explains in detail their lives, what led them to become composers, the background to their music compositions, and the beautiful music they composed, helping us gain a deeper understanding of composers we only know by name.

Part 3 focuses on introducing the music that the author loves or is intertwined with the author's experiences, as well as the classical music that Koreans like the most, to help readers more comfortably embrace classical music.

Part 4 introduces classics that are historically associated with interesting episodes related to a country or a specific person.
The author's extensive knowledge and unique humor make for an exciting exploration of the world's history and the behind-the-scenes stories behind specific music that we didn't know much about.

Part 5 is mainly about 'love' and features Chopin's 'Raindrop Prelude in D♭ major, Op. 28 No. 15', Verdi's 'La Femme's Heart', and Schumann's 'Der Myrthe', Op.
Introducing music such as 25'.
If we compare it to a course meal, it can be likened to a sweet dessert.

The last 6 parts explain the stories of musicians who composed different pieces on the same theme, such as Mendelssohn's 'Wedding Chorus' & Wagner's 'Wedding March', Debussy's 'Moonlight' & Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata', and Schubert's 'Swan Song' & Tchaikovsky's 'Swan Lake', as if reading a piece of literature.

In this way, 《Classic Restaurant》 presents 40 classical pieces, including songs, operas, and symphonies that the author loves and that everyone loves, among many other classical music pieces, thereby allowing readers to build a rich literary and musical knowledge.
