Management: Kazuo Inamori on the Origins
Description
Book Introduction
“What is management?”
Founder of Kyocera Group, and a key figure in KDDI's breakthrough.
A great businessman who successfully revived JAL
Kazuo Inamori on "Management"
Honorary Chairman Kazuo Inamori is best known for founding two of the world's largest companies, Kyocera and KDDI, and for leading the revival of Japan Airlines (JAL), but his management career has been far from smooth sailing, as has his long career.
He wisely overcame crises starting with the oil shock in the 1970s, the collapse of the bubble economy in the 1990s, and the Lehman Brothers shock in the 2000s, ultimately surviving to the end as a great manager.
Management is a series of crises and adventures.
What did Kazuo Inamori think and do when faced with the turmoil of his career as a manager? This book compiles the turbulent management career of Honorary Chairman Kazuo Inamori, his management philosophy, and the management principles that enabled him to achieve it all.
This book, completed by the Inamori Library, which was planned and maintained during his lifetime, contains the core of Inamori's management theory extracted from numerous lectures from the 1970s to the 2010s.

Publisher's Review
It took 7 years just to select the manuscript, and Chairman Inamori was directly involved from the planning stage.
The essence of Inamori's management philosophy!
This book is a compilation of the six volumes of "Anthology of Kazuo Inamori's Management Lectures," which contain a vast collection of lectures by Honorary Chairman Kazuo Inamori. It is a careful selection of only those lectures that can be called the "essence of Inamori's management."
In February 2015, before Chairman Inamori's death, Honorary Chairman Kazuo Inamori accepted a publisher's offer to publish a book summarizing his management philosophy.
Over the next few years, he and the Inamori Library team took the lead in carefully selecting manuscripts to publish a book that could be considered the essence of Inamori's management. However, the work was interrupted by the death of Chairman Inamori, and the manuscript was completed and published based on the lecture materials he left behind.
Most of the lectures included in this book were selected by Chairman Inamori.
These lectures, which mention the management principles he considered most important from his youth to his retirement, are a compilation of Inamori's management strategies and philosophy, which are divided into 40 years of extensive lecture materials and over 40 books from the 1970s to the 2010s.
Seiwajyuku's management classes, where Masayoshi Son, Jack Ma, and others studied,
Hear vivid voices from the field, even the messages shared with employees during times of crisis!
Seiwajyuku's management classes are renowned for providing clear solutions to the practical concerns faced by managers leading organizations.
Requests for lectures from businesspeople around the world poured in, leading to the establishment of branches overseas, including in Korea.
Seiwajyuku disbanded at the end of 2019, but his lectures remain in book form and are still widely read by businesspeople around the world, often called the "essence of Inamorism management."
In particular, Chairman Inamori's policies, which accompanied him through moments of ups and downs and crises, from the oil shock of the 1970s when he first began management, to the collapse of the bubble economy in the 1990s, and the Lehman Brothers crisis in the 2000s, shine even brighter.
The lectures for employees contain various response strategies and reasons for rapid environmental changes, including economic conditions, markets, technological trends, and competitors in the same industry, providing crucial clues to those of us living in the so-called "low-growth era."
Moreover, you can get a glimpse into how thousands of managers and employees around the world have successfully adopted and implemented "Ameba Management," a core management strategy that has led to success in every business it touches.
The answer the god of management has found after half a century of pondering.
Management Principles Leaders Must Know in a Moment of Crisis
At the young age of 27, he founded Kyoto Ceramics with a capital of 3 million yen and 28 employees, and introduced 'Ameba Management' to the company, leading to rapid growth.
This system is evaluated to have set a new global management trend by spreading it to 700 Japanese companies and numerous other companies around the world.
From the essentials of management—improving judgment, expanding business, motivating employees, taking on new ventures, and building a strong organization—to the practical skills necessary for leaders, this book offers a comprehensive overview of the insights Kazuo Inamori has gleaned through his half-century of management experience.
You'll gain insight into the role and qualities of the top decision-maker, who must enhance a company's productivity and efficiency. You'll also find helpful hints for overcoming the crises any leader will face, as well as valuable guidance on the path of a true manager who energizes a company and nurtures it into a successful organization.
