Magazine <C> is a chair documentary magazine that introduces design and lifestyle centered around an iconic chair selected by Grande Clip and Magazine <B> each issue.
Covering everything from famous chairs that have had a profound impact on related industries and public life to street chairs, it illuminates the designers, brands, manufacturers, collectors, and the lifestyles of those who sit in them, as well as their contemporary influence.
Grande Clip, which publishes the magazine “C,” is a new startup launched by Kim Bong-jin, founder of Woowa Brothers (Baedal Minjok). With the motto of “making small things great,” the company aims to find value in small and ordinary things like clips and make them meaningful and great.

When you first see the Poteuil Grand Confort, you might think, "Huh? What is this? Isn't it too simple and boring?"
But if you think about it a little, you'll realize that things that seem so obvious and ordinary now were actually quite innovative products in the past.
Close examples would be iPhones and computers, and looking a little further afield, things like paper and glass would be examples.
The appearance of the Pouteuil Grand Confort may seem ordinary now, but when the design was first introduced, it reflected a very groundbreaking and innovative philosophy.
That's why I think many designers and architects, including myself, want to own the Pouteuil Grand Confort out of respect for Le Corbusier.


Le Corbusier is a name I have admired for a long time, and I also own several of his furniture pieces.
I've been working hard all this time. (Laughs) I use the Poteuil Grand Confort Petit Grand model and the LC14 Tabouret made for a 4-pyeong cabin here and there.
I have over 10 pairs of Lesca glasses, which Le Corbusier favored, and I also have two drawings of Le Corbusier's buildings by artist Kim Soo-young.
I sit in front of his works with reverence, hang them all over my house to admire them, and wear them with my glasses as I go about my daily life. (Laughs) I still can't forget the emotion I felt when I visited the Unité d'Habitation in Berlin and Marseille.
I'm finally here! Wandering around the Unité d'Habitation, I was able to experience the philosophical side of Le Corbusier, who coined the concept of "a house is a machine for living in," where the various functional elements that make up a home serve people like a single machine, and the ideals he pursued.
There's a saying that modern architects try this and that to avoid the uniform design of apartments, but they always end up coming back to this.
This means that Le Corbusier has already provided all the answers.
Four years ago, I finally visited the Bauhaus, which was a kind of pilgrimage for me.


3 When it comes to the Porteuil Grand Confort Grand Model, you can't help but mention Steve Jobs.
Every time a new product is announced, you can easily find a picture of someone sitting in this chair, and it feels like a chair that Steve Jobs would love.
It seems to perfectly match the Apple design philosophy he pursued, such as the neat rectangular shape and material of steel tubes, simple composition, and simple finish.
Apple's design philosophy traces back to Le Corbusier and the Bauhaus.
Chairs that can be discussed alongside the Pouteuil Grand Confort include Mies Van Der Rohe's Barcelona Chair and Marcel Breuer's Wassily Chair, and in fact, all three were designed around the same time.
Since they share the same zeitgeist of modernism, represented by Bauhaus, wouldn't it be natural to place them together?

I love the Poetry of Grand Confort so much that I wish it had been featured in the first or last issue.
It's a bit of a shame that it comes out in the middle. (Laughs) When I published the magazine <F>, the theme of the first issue was salt and the theme of the last issue was water, and the intention was to place the most important things at the beginning and end.
The influence of the Grand Confort and Le Corbusier on modern design is highly regarded.
