Takehiko Inoue, a manga artist well known to us for 'Slumdunk', suddenly went on hiatus while serializing 'Vagabond'.
This was quite unusual given the nature of weekly comics.
There was no way to know when the series would resume.
That 'rest (from the perspective of a comic magazine)' lasted 500 days.
Even Takehiko Inoue couldn't have imagined that it would take so long, and there were even rumors that Vagabond's serialization might be impossible.
In fact, he wasn't in very good condition.
But in that blank time, he paints huge folding screens in temples and on the walls of Gimpo Airport.
Large-scale work, rather than small-frame comics, was physically more demanding.
Even outside of the manga serialization, there were still deadlines.
Time passed like that.

He says that period was a time of increasing internal pressure.
We tend to think of 'rest' or 'blank' as doing nothing or distancing ourselves from our daily lives.
Rest is absolutely necessary to recover from anything that is very tired or exhausted.
But the data accumulated over each person's life tells a completely different story.
It's like a new challenge to paint on a large canvas.
Some people take pictures, some enjoy sports, and some talk about books.

Some people continue doing what they were doing.

The theme of this week's home bathhouse is the story of people spending their me-time in their own way.
Me-time is the time to increase internal pressure for today's me.
The bathhouse in front of my house has met people who visit me every now and then, even if it's just for a short time in their daily lives, people who fill their long-awaited holidays with time spent with me, and people who find strength again by looking into themselves in the long breath of life.


And the text does not discuss the story of the bathhouse as hardware.
I think it would be better to say that this issue is a special issue to share the concept of Me Time.
