If you could bake whatever you most desire, what would you bake? In "Once Upon a Time in the Bakery," a mysterious cat lives who will bake you anything you desire into delicious bread.
From the very, very old days when dinosaurs were running around, we have been quietly baking bread in one place until now.
But strangely enough, suspicious customers kept coming to this bakery.
Moreover, they ordered a very special bread that they had never tasted anywhere in the world.

The cat decides to bake the bread of absolute power for the naked king, the bread of beauty for the queen with the magic mirror, the bread of golden eggs for the farmer woman, and the bread of greatness for the man in the black suit.
Although the dough was carefully kneaded and baked in the oven until golden brown, none of the customers were able to taste the bread they were hoping for.

"Once Upon a Time in the Bakery" reimagines characters from old tales like "The Emperor's New Clothes," "Snow White," and "The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs," and makes us think about what is truly important in life.

The cat who baked bread suffered for so long from people, but one day, everything changed when he met a child by chance.
The child asked the cat to bake him a new type of bread he had never heard of before.
I want to taste 'time' right now.
The cat felt the time flowing slowly with the child, and brought out memories that he had forgotten one by one.
So what would the bread made by a cat and a child look like?
Author Kim Joo-hyun, who has been loved by readers for her active writing in various fields such as picture books, fairy tales, and children's educational books, said that she wrote this story after being inspired by the cute questions from children curious about the cat sitting on the roof of the bakery on the cover of "The Bakery That Bakes Time."
Instead, we rewrote the story by reorganizing the characters and background so that even friends who don't know fairy tales can understand it better.
Here, author Doama vividly captured the fresh and cute appearance of the main character cat using her own pet cat as a model.
Additionally, by utilizing watercolor textures, we delicately expressed everything from chewy wheat dough to freshly baked, hot bread and the texture of golden brown bread.
Thanks to this, the world of picture books was able to become even richer and more complete.
