Tangerine Koala
Description
Book Introduction
“Our childhood, which we thought would last forever, has now become adults,
Watching our children grow up reminds us of our own childhood.
“I’m looking forward to the memories we’ll make together in the future, just as much as the memories we’ve shared together.”
-Author's Note
A family story about three koalas living together under a large tree.
The author's warm perspective on family relationships between brothers and sisters!
Following 『Blue Duck』 and 『Green Turtle』, author Lilia's third family story has begun.
The new family story by author Lilia, who is much loved for her warm perspective on family, fairytale-like composition, and lovely illustrations, is about 'siblings.'
The previous two picture books were about caregivers (parents), and this one is about peers growing together in family relationships.
The first, second, and third koalas live in a large tree.
Like other children in the same household, they play together and have fun, but when differences of opinion arise, they fight and get into arguments.
Bickering between siblings who live together is uncomfortable, and apologizing feels awkward and difficult.
The three of them start the day feeling a little sorry, uncomfortable, and sad.
But a forest fire breaks out in the forest where the third child was.
The first and second run in one breath as soon as they hear the third's scream.
Because I could tell right away who it was.
Let's save the third one, look after each other's injuries, and protect each other again.
In this way, the three of them grow up and gradually leave to start their own families.
But the memories of the three of us growing up together were always in my heart.
Each person has left, and only the tree from that time remains, but just as the name "family" remains unchanged, the hearts of the three and the tree remain in that place.
Experience a time of reflection and embracing each other through this picture book, which contains various emotions that family members were unable to express to each other.

Publisher's Review
“We felt so lucky to have each other.”
A message to a friend who resembles me, who grows together and supports each other.
Within a family, siblings can be strong friends or, at times, unbeatable rivals.
When I look back on my relationship with my siblings during my childhood, they were incredibly affectionate and gentle, but then they quickly turned into bickering and turning away.
But then again, we get closer and then we move away again, as if nothing had happened.
The story of growth told by the three koalas resembles our own.
Family allows for a lot of things.
Sometimes it protects with boundless energy, and sometimes it crosses the line.
The reason we become invisible fences for each other is probably because of the affection we developed while growing together.
A relationship where we feel truly blessed to have each other, where friends who nurture and support each other grow, perhaps that's what siblings are all about. "Tangerine Koala" is a message to a friend who resembles me.
A relationship where each person reminisces about their childhood and looks forward to more stories to share, even though they have grown up and are no longer living together under the big tree.
Meet your siblings through three koalas who never let go of each other's hands.
