What happened to the sea animals?
The lively movement of fish swimming freely on the waves and corals swaying in the breeze.
This is the scenery that always comes to mind when we think of the 'sea'.
But if you really look into the ocean, you will encounter a reality different from what you imagined.
Despite repeated warnings, people's indifferent thoughts and actions are still driving countless marine animals to extinction or the brink of extinction.
"We're Gone Soon" begins with the story of sea animals that have disappeared one by one and are disappearing again.

The minpal fish is wandering alone in the vast ocean.
I asked a seahorse I met by chance if he had ever seen a fish that looked like him.
But the seahorse is also looking for its lost friends.
A green sea turtle passing by approaches them and tells them that all of its relatives have disappeared at some point.
The sea animals each comment on when the sea began to change and how lonely and desolate they feel now that their families and friends have disappeared.
But then! Something unknown begins to cover the sea.
And then, a moment later, with a “Sararak!” sound, an unimaginable sight unfolds before your eyes.
What on earth happened to the sea animals?


Endangered marine animals,
Is this really just their story?
Which saltwater fish was officially declared extinct? It was the minpal, the star of this story and the first to appear.
The arm-like pectoral fin fish, named for its arm-like pectoral fins, has now completely disappeared from the Earth.
Not only that, but all of the sea animals that appear in the picture book, such as the seahorse with spines on every joint of its body, the clownfish with its charming stripes on its body, the finless porpoise with its smiling face, the green sea turtle that travels between the sea and land, and the blue parrotfish with its bright colors, are endangered.
We don't know when you will leave us.
And all this misfortune isn't just a story about sea animals.

We call the ocean the 'source of life' and the 'true lungs of the Earth.'
Since the ocean covers 70% of the Earth's surface, we can say that everything in our daily lives comes from the ocean and heads towards the ocean.
But since the sea began to suffer from human disturbance, a dark shadow began to fall over this place where we live.
Every summer, today is hotter than yesterday, tomorrow is hotter than today, and people start jokingly saying, “It’s not a weather where people can live, except for mangoes and bananas.”
Additionally, abnormal weather phenomena such as floods, heat waves, and cold waves occurring around the world are beginning to affect our skin.
We must remember that on a planet where marine life is disappearing, humans are ultimately not safe either.



Now, I can really hear the voices of sea animals.
It's time to listen up!
"We'll Disappear Soon" is the second original picture book by Lee Ye-sook, who is active in various fields such as a picture book author, picture book performer, and pop-up artist.
It is said that the anecdotes seen and felt while traveling the sea were expressed in picture book language.
Layered coral backgrounds and illustrations of sea animals with their own unique characteristics add to the vividness of the story.
In particular, through two surprising twists, it delivers a message that will remain in the hearts of readers for a long time.

How much plastic waste do we use and throw away each day? Think about the discarded snack bags, broken and useless toys, and disposable packaging from delivery food—we all share plastic waste in every moment of our lives.
In the past, when we closed our eyes and ears to convenience, weren't we ignoring the desperate cries of disappearing sea animals?
