Book Introduction
Maison India Travel & Books creates travel experiences based on the seasonal themes and flow of connections at each destination, and leaves behind a travel legacy in the form of a book after each journey.
This book lovingly captures the landscapes of the mind captured during the 'Movement Yoga, Movement Drawing' trip to Kolkata-Shantiniketan-Darjeeling in East India in March 2025 through 23 meditation notes and drawings.
The book follows the landscapes of a trip to India, but ultimately it is a journey of discovering one's own heart.
Whether it's the pulsating chaos of Kolkata, the touch of the Holi festival in Shantiniketan, the radiant darkness of Darjeeling's Tiger Hills, or the sprawling tea plantations of the Himalayan foothills, each scene becomes more than a simple travelogue; it becomes a meditative reflection on life.

Short but profound sentences lead the traveler to a moment of realization of the 'here and now', and the dense senses of smell, color, sound, and even the wind make it feel as if you are standing there vividly.
Allowing for sway, the warm sentences that comfort you and me calm the heart, and the paintings that go beyond simple landscapes to capture moments of inner space and contemplation gently guide us into a space of meditation.
This book is a travelogue, but it is also a book of spiritual practice, a collection of comforting prose, and a drawing meditation.
The unfamiliar and chaotic land of India ultimately becomes a mirror through which we look into the world within ourselves.
I hope that readers will find comfort in the journey of someone similar to themselves, and that there will be moments when we can encourage each other by saying, “You and I are both so great.”
We share a love that acknowledges and supports the warmth of life that we all strive to live.

Epilogue - The First Line of My Heart

Publisher's Review
“The moment you allow yourself to be shaken, life becomes deeper.”

The chaos and disorder of Kolkata, the city of art, encountered on a trip to India by yoga practitioner Tara and travel drawing artist Bereka, the gardens of Shantiniketan Tagore and the colorful dust of Holi, the slow trains of Darjeeling… The people and landscapes we encountered there whisper these words to us.
'What am I here for?
'I came here because I wanted to leave behind the comforts of everyday life and embrace this dust and chaos.'
This book offers a new perspective on life in a travel destination rather than focusing on the flashy sights of the destination.

Like the old train in Darjeeling, everyone rattles and shakes, but it seems as if it will stop, and yet, through warm words and lyrical pictures, it conveys the freedom, love, and learning that bloom in a life that continues.
It offers quiet comfort to those weary of daily life, a map of the heart to those dreaming of travel, and a ray of courage to those at a turning point in their lives.
As if you were going on a journey following a book, turn the pages and discover the spirit of travel.
"This book is a record of the pieces of my heart I picked up on my journey in India.
As I walked the path of yoga and meditation, questions and small realizations that blossomed in my body's sensations, my mind's emotions, and my thoughts became seeds.
Life doesn't always go as planned, and it's full of rough and unpredictable moments, like walking along a road in India. But there's a lesson hidden in every bump, and with every pause, thoughts grow.

For the past 10 years, I have been writing about my personal emotions, physical experiences, and thoughts I discover in my daily life through Instagram (@tara_jang).
At first, it was just little notes and reflections for myself, but gradually, as I heard stories of how my writings brought comfort and help to others, the meaning of writing changed.
The fact that my writings can quietly touch the lives of others has inspired me to write with greater depth.
This book is not intended to convey the complete truth.
Rather, I would like to share a journey with living questions.
Because I believe that true growth occurs in the midst of what may seem like chaos and looseness.

I hope that anyone who reads this will feel that they are not alone on their path.
I hope you can experience emotions through your body, feel philosophy in everyday language, and embrace the complexities of life.
If this book can become a small comma in someone's life, or a quiet wave, that would be enough.
Throughout my life, learning has grown, and meaning has been discovered even amidst the upheaval.
This article is an attempt to organize those fragments of life and share the lessons and reflections I've gained from them with readers.
I hope that the text, in the form of a picture book, will reach more people and leave a quiet resonance in their lives."
