Love doesn't have to be shiny
Description
Book Introduction
Finding value in small things
Living life as taught by the wildflower poet, Na Tae-ju
“Days of nothing make me who I am.”
Today, I live like a poem,
Be a warm comfort
Na Min-ae, author of "Love Doesn't Have to Shine" and poetry critic, pours her heart into the big and small things of everyday life as if she were choosing a poem.
Is this what it means to live like a poem?
Accompanying his poet father (Na Tae-joo) to lectures, he gains insight into the path of life, contemplates death while reading articles on the Internet, and even shares his concerns with his students as he teaches.
In this book, I calmly unravel the daily experiences I encounter.
And at that moment, I share the comfort I felt through ‘poetry.’
The author's sentences are warm.
Living a life of hardship and suffering, I have been through some pain and hardship, but I still have the heart to look around me.
So, this record of daily life will be a comforting hand that soothes the hearts of those who are tired and struggling at this moment.

One, it's okay to take a break
My own secret bunker
It's okay to rest if you're tired
Since you were born as a human, you must leave as a human.
I don't have anything I want to be.
Ansseureopstagram
The end of some
The direction of my steps today
Two, it's enough without any effort
A room of my own
It's okay if you're not good at it
Forgetting is also a blessing
Father's legacy
Click the 'Okay' button
I am a timid person
It's enough for now
Third, sometimes pain can become strength.
The crying child in your heart
The Love of a Short Sunflower
Words you forget and I remember
Grandmother's death
You have no right to hurt me.
My debt is 150 million won
The moment when working mothers want to live well
Fourth, love doesn't have to be shiny
My world, Mom
There is no love that is love from the beginning
Adults planting tree seedlings
It doesn't have to be shiny
If affection is a disease
First words from a senior who became a mother
Can I continue living?
Love rides on ten fingers
For the day the picnic ends
A word that saves me

Into the book
To 'try hard' ultimately means to 'put your heart into it'.
But when you use it, you have to use it appropriately.
The infinite in the world exists only in our imagination and is not within our grasp.
Love has an end, and the heart has limits.
When we pretend not to know and struggle, we are struggling.
--- p.31
No one can take away the memories and words I keep.
It's my property, my Maginot Line, my secret.
It's a blessing to have something to cherish for a long time.
It's a blessing to have a face to show off.
--- p.36,37
My dream is to not be what others expect me to be.
I don't want to dream the dreams that others expect of me.
My life is too short and too precious for that.
--- p.53
Where in the world is there anyone who is good at something from the beginning?
Living as a mother and working are the same.
There is no perfect mother in the world.
You have to live with the mindset that 'if you keep doing it for a long time, you'll get better at it, or else it won't work out.'
There's no reason to do well from the start.
--- p.94
The human soul is made of memories.
The soul becomes a new collage with the addition of past emotions, words, temperatures, and scenes.
It is my temperament that makes my soul easily sick, but it is my good memories that make me recover quickly.
It's like the words of memory that my father gave me, or the warmth of the past that my mother spread.
--- p.109
I thought, do I need to be happy? I just need to be unhappy.
I thought it was embarrassing to pursue happiness in a society that encourages it.
But maybe I was afraid in advance that I wouldn't be able to be happy.

Publisher's Review
Finding value in small things
Living life as taught by the wildflower poet, Na Tae-ju
“Days of nothing make me who I am.”
*Recommendation*
I read it for nothing.
I feel like my heart has been touched.
What should I do? This person is my daughter, and these writings are my daughter's.
On a bitterly cold winter night, I read my daughter's writing, shivering and even crying.
It was because my daughter's trembling was also my trembling.
_Na Tae-ju (poet, father of Professor Na Min-ae)
“I was sick, but
I hope you don't get sick.”
The author of this book lived diligently to live up to the titles given to her, such as poetry critic, professor, writer, lecturer, mother, wife, and daughter.
Those were days when I could only say that I lived while constantly struggling in my position.
Then one day, while running so fast that I was out of breath, I got a panic attack and stopped for a moment to think.
Is it okay to live like this?
The author captures that very moment.
And as the author recalls the comforting memories of those who held his hand during difficult times, he writes in the hopes of becoming a comfort to others.
“I was sick, but I hope that those who read this book won’t be sick.”
Soothing aching hearts
Affectionate memories of everyday life
When the future seems bleak and difficult, what helps us endure those moments is nothing special.
These are the ordinary things that fill our daily lives, like a word from our father, a hug from our mother, a line from a poem, or a hand held by our daughter.
“It is my temperament that makes my soul easily sick, but it is my good memories that make it recover quickly.
“It’s like the words of memory my father gave me, the warmth of the past my mother spread.” (p. 109)
The author calmly talks about his own situations and concerns, including work, friends, and family issues, while also revealing precious memories that fill his daily life.
That's why I listen more attentively to the author's story.
It's like a pledge to take out these precious days and look at them when I'm tired and want to run away, just like taking out a nutritional supplement when I'm feeling down.
Because it feels like a comforting thought to someone who is having a similar day to me.
It's okay even if you're not good at it,
Living life as the real 'me'
If you just go to college, if you just get a job, if you just get married… … .
We set these goals and run forward.
However, the desire to do well pushes me harder without giving me time to reflect, and before I know it, I end up hating myself.
The author also confesses that living that kind of life was very difficult.
Just from his background as a professor at Seoul National University and a poetry critic, one can guess that the author's life has not been easy.
When he was trying so hard to be better and more successful, to shine a little more, and eventually collapsed from exhaustion, he suddenly had a realization from his father's words.
“It’s okay if you don’t do well.
If you do it for a long time, you will get used to it.”
At that moment, I decided to stop trying to be a shining star and just live as myself.
Like the poem written by my father, Na Tae-ju, ‘Wildflowers’ are beautiful when looked at closely and lovely when looked at for a long time.
Isn't that how our lives are?
If you look at life as a whole, there are more dull days than shiny days.
Days of nothing, ordinary, normal days, come together to create the real me.
So, if you're having a hard time, you can take a break, and even if today feels like yesterday, you can just live quietly today.
Because our lives are beautiful only when we look at them closely and love them only when we look at them for a long time.
It can definitely be love even if it doesn't shine.
I hope to spend each day with this belief.
