Into the book
During the golden years of their lives, many young people throw themselves and their hearts into extreme choices.
As a senior in life, before becoming a lecturer, what should I convey to them and how? I don't want to be an irresponsible senior who simply says, "Listen to my lectures, you're the best lecturer in Korean history."
Perhaps cool, objective advice on their choices, and sometimes even warm, heartfelt encouragement, would truly be helpful. At the very least, I wondered if the empathy and advice of others in similar situations could serve as a catalyst for a new mindset.
Exams and grades do not take into account anyone's family circumstances or personal circumstances.
Since the cutoff for passing is made only in order, I hope that you will persevere even harder and more desperately.
It hurts to work hard.
I hope many young people can endure this period well.
---From "Jeon Han-gil's Bitter Words_Page 17"
In fact, isn't it difficult to try harder and do better?
It is a very happy thing to be able to choose and determine your own destiny.
I have high expectations for my students.
You're preparing for this crucial exam, which will determine whether or not you can achieve your lifelong dream. You'll have to beat the odds of dozens to one to pass. In such a situation, how can someone who rebels, sits in a PC room, or falls asleep in class achieve their dreams? Their future is in plain sight.
I don't want to raise a disciple who falls.
---From "No One Ordered It_Page 19"
“Today, these 24 hours that I will never get back are so precious.
Absolute time cannot be changed, but it can be changed relatively depending on how it is used.
I always think about dividing the 24 hours of a day into five parts and spending each day as if it were a month, making it the most fulfilling and regret-free day.
The most rewarding time of my day is the time I am giving this lecture.
I am not teaching this course alone.
Thank you so much for watching the lecture.
Meetings don't last forever... ... If you happen to meet Jeon Han-gil, who has now grown old, in the distant future, please pretend to know that thanks to him, he became a public official and is living happily now.
So, if you could give me a cup of coffee from the vending machine, I would consider it a great reward.”
---From "The Story I Wanted to Tell Afterwards_Page 62"
There are five good things for you young people.
The joy of passing the exam, just seeing your father and mother happy while holding their certificate of passing the exam, that is filial piety, that is happiness.
And you will have more opportunities to meet loved ones and have the blessing of marriage.
Also, when you give birth to a child who resembles you, you can feel the joy of having gained the entire universe.
Only truly happy things will continue to happen in the future.
If I think about that day, wouldn't I be able to study positively with a smile, today, tomorrow, this month, and even until the day of the exam?
Don't be discouraged, youth has a lot to offer.
---From "Don't Be Discouraged, Youth Has a Lot_Page 91"
“Amor Fati.” Love my fate.
Acceptance and compliance are words that are necessary during the difficult exam period, during the joy of passing the exam, during times of failure and frustration, and even after success.
This life of studying for exams will end someday.
Won't I pass soon? I'll make up my mind from now on and think, "I don't have many days left in my life."
I'm going crazy about studying, devoting all the energy, time, and passion given to me.
Isn't it in the song lyrics?
There is definitely an end, and after it is over, you can rest as much as you want.
Don't be arrogant all the time, enjoy the present and love yourself.
Memento mori, carpe diem, amor party.

Publisher's Review
“You know what, you are the most precious thing in this universe!”
A spell of happiness from Jeon Han-gil, the life mentor who will hold on to the wavering "me."
A few years ago, when a difficult Korean history question was included in the civil service exam, a video of instructor Jeon Han-gil yelling at the examiner during a lecture was broadcast on the 9 o'clock news, and this further solidified his identity as "an instructor who cares about the examinees more than the examinees themselves."
His straightforward and realistic advice, which he was able to give because he had witnessed firsthand the young people who threw their bodies and minds into extreme choices during the golden years of their lives, was called the "national bitter words of life" and gave many people the driving force and courage to live.
He has become a daily lecturer in Korea, holding the record-breaking titles of #1 in satisfaction among all instructors in EBS lectures in 2004, #1 for 10 consecutive years among online students of Korean history for civil servants, and #1 in sales of Korean history textbooks for civil servants. The experiences and wisdom he has gained over the years have become the basis for his sincere advice and encouragement for young people, and his YouTube channel, "A Road Better Than Flowers," which is a collection of his "bitter words" videos, has attracted close to 300,000 subscribers in less than 3 years since its launch, bringing a positive response to those tired of irresponsible comfort and hopeless solutions.
"Your Life Is Not Funny" is also the result of dividing Jeon Han-gil's bitter words into themes of life, sharpening the message, and highlighting it clearly.
As a teacher and a senior who has lived a bit more in life, the author prepared this book in the hope that it will help wandering youth reduce the trial and error of various tasks.
His unvarnished and honest story in the book not only motivates us to pursue our dreams, but also offers a powerful perspective on the world, including the mindset we must maintain after achieving our goals, the harshness of human relationships, and the definition of true happiness.
Just as you take a mock exam before the day of the final battle, if you study Jeon Han-gil's 50 practical life strategies through this book, you will be able to confidently step into the field of life, armed with the wisdom to protect yourself without being swayed by the opinions of those around you.
To all who are struggling to fill their share
50 Philosophies of Happiness
Despite the author's unmanageable debts due to a decline in popularity, the bankruptcy of his academy, and the bankruptcy of his publishing company, he now lives a successful life, paying 1.5 billion won in taxes alone.
The book is full of instructor Jeon Han-gil's so-called 'stories that can be told because one has failed.'
This book is divided into four parts.
Part 1, "The Real Reason My Life Is Hard," begins with a cry to awaken the spirit of those who curse the world, such as "Who told you to do that!" and covers how to master time rather than being dragged by it, strategies for overcoming hardships, and techniques for immersing yourself in life. Part 2, "Stop making excuses, you losers!" contains clear answers to the question, "How can I live without being discouraged and maintaining my self-esteem in the face of repeated failure?" and the mindset to challenge again.
Part 3, 'Time to Accumulate Wisdom of Life', reveals the importance of wisdom learned through history, the criteria for categorizing work and life, and 'Jeon Han-gil's 10 Commandments of Life', and Part 4, 'Independence in Life Is Happiness', talks about how to focus on the 'here and now', the habit of pouring energy, time, and passion into the path you have chosen, and the 'philosophy of happiness' that the author himself has connected and compiled.
The author calls us to accept and love even these difficult and arduous times, as they are a precious part of life.
As the title suggests, “Your Life Is Not Funny” will be a warm cheering song and spell of happiness for all those who are struggling to fill their share.
‘Independence in life’ is happiness!
Towards an autonomous life where one takes responsibility for one's choices
A vivid and fierce record of struggle
The author has kept detailed records of moments of joy and sorrow, and through these records, he has strengthened his will to live and pledged to a better tomorrow.
The book contains 20 handwritten diaries containing traces of the author's fierce and vivid struggles, as well as messages of determination.
Even in the old diary, the original intentions as a lecturer, the time of business failure and past debt, the new challenge and revival as a daily lecturer are clearly recorded, allowing the reader to look back on their own lives and gain new courage.
The author says, “Life is unpredictable, and there are no reruns.
“Even if my choices lead me in an undesirable direction, if I persevere, unexpected lucky opportunities will come my way,” he says calmly, comparing life to a ‘live broadcast.’
If you follow the author's "Fierce and Brilliant Mind Class," you will soon be able to become the protagonist of a live broadcast, leading your life with unwavering honesty, in other words, the protagonist of "Life Independence."
