GARM Magazine 10 Windows
Description
Book Introduction
The 'face' and 'eyes' of the building
Windows are the 'face' that determines the exterior appearance of a building.
It also serves as the 'eyes' through which internal users look outward.
Windows are so important that they can account for up to 15% of the total construction cost.
There has been a lot of interest in insulation and energy recently, as they affect nearly half of the energy consumption of all buildings.
However, in our country, the residential environment is dominated by apartments, and most of the windows are cheap PVC double-glazed windows.
While the product selection is limited, we track the progress of various manufacturers struggling in the harsh domestic market and provide guidance on how to select and install good windows.
The days when windows were simply glass walls that kept out wind and rain are over.
The proportion of windows in construction will continue to increase in the future.
Now, an era will come in which a single window can filter out fine dust, circulate dry outdoor air and humid indoor air in winter, and produce energy using solar energy, creating a comfortable and enriching indoor environment.

Publisher's Review
We'll guide you through the first steps of building a home.
When asked, “What kind of house would you like to live in?” many people answer with abstract images such as “Nordic-style interior, vintage space.”
But the architecture we remember is specific and mostly related to materials, such as red brick houses and rooms with monotone furniture and walls.
Materials are the basis of architecture and also play a significant role in structure and design.
However, choosing one is not easy.
There are appropriate materials for each situation, but since they are not organized systematically, I often end up searching the Internet and getting lost in the swamp of information.
Not only the building owner but also the architect has difficulty selecting and applying materials.
『Gam Magazine』 is packed with all the information you need to know about using ingredients, from basic information to classification, usage methods, and distribution channels.
Let's safely complete the arduous architectural journey with Gam Magazine, just as we sail along the lighthouse's path.
The joy of learning one by one,
GARM, a one-topic magazine for building materials
'Gam' is a pure Korean word meaning material.
The GARM series was created to discuss ways to concretely realize individual creativity.
This is to guide you on the minimum method to create your own space centered on 'shelter', which is one of the most important things for people.
Its beginning is an investigation into ‘materials,’ the smallest physical unit of architecture.
This book aims to help readers identify and use 'good ingredients'.
One theme per season
We break down the three ingredients one by one.
『Gam Magazine』 covers one building material per issue, and publishes three issues simultaneously with one theme every six months.
Season 1, which premiered on July 1, 2017, consists of the basic materials of construction, including [Wood], [Brick], and [Concrete].
Each volume provides easy-to-understand guidance on the many concerns you may have when selecting materials, including types, distribution channels, and selection criteria.
Season 2 features [Paint], [Tile], and [Flooring] sections to help designers as well as the general public interested in interior design follow suit.
The [Steel], [Glass], and [Stone] editions published in September 2018 are about exterior materials that create the building's landscape, and discuss the various processing methods and utilization methods of materials, as well as their future possibilities.
In Season 4, we went beyond materials and covered hardware that required technology, such as [windows], [lighting], and [built-in furniture].
