Take the subway
Description
Book Introduction
Jiwon and Byeonggwan, two siblings, take the subway to their grandmother's house.
I've ridden with adults many times, but this is the first time we've gone alone.

I'm already nervous about getting on the wrong train or missing my transfer station, but my older sister Jiwon is now responsible for taking care of her younger sibling, making me even more nervous.
Byung-kwan, the younger brother who is still too young to understand his older sister's feelings, runs around on his own, throws a tantrum and insists on putting his own ticket in the ticket gate, and sleeps soundly on the train without waking up, making his older sister worry.

Even after getting off the subway, Jiwon can't relax.
Byung-kwan is so excited that he runs over there by himself.
I finally arrived at my grandmother's house.
When his mother, who had arrived early and was preparing the ancestral rites, said, "You worked hard," Jiwon burst into tears, having been holding back tears for so long.

The contrasting appearances of Jiwon and Byeong-gwan, the older sister and younger brother, are interesting.
The older sister is very nervous and anxious, but the younger sister is very excited and does whatever she wants no matter what she says.
Most of what Noona says to Byeong-gwan is nagging.
You can read the sense of responsibility and anxiety felt at a young age.
It also seems to be very strong.
The scene where Jiwon's tears, which she had been holding back, finally burst out at the sight of her mother is both heartbreaking and funny.

Children often have to do things for the 'first time'.
There are things you get used to without even realizing it, but there are also times like Jiwon and Byeongkwan where you have to be very nervous.
After completing such a large 'task', both the child and the adults who were watching with as much nervousness as the child feel a sense of pride, thinking, 'He's grown up enough to do this on his own.'

This is a book called "Riding the Subway," which is filled with fun subway scenes and childlike, enjoyable imaginations.
