#What if a fairy appeared one day and granted you three wishes?
One ordinary day, when everything was boring, something surprising suddenly happened.
Lambert, Hilda, and Ross were watching television.
Then, suddenly, a blue fairy appeared from the television! The fairy emerged, looked straight at the three children, and said:

“I will grant you three wishes.
Just say whatever you want.
But you have to choose your wishes very carefully.”

The fairy disappeared as soon as she finished speaking.
A wish! Three wishes, really? The children were thrilled by their sudden good fortune.
At that moment, Lambert, filled with joy, muttered without realizing it.

“But I’m a little hungry.
“I wish I could think about it while eating a big banana.”

Then, out of nowhere, a huge, truly enormous banana appeared! The three friends ended up making a wish in this absurd way.
Now there are only two wishes left.
What were the other two wishes the children made?

Anthony Browne invites you to the theater of absurd and philosophical stories.

Publisher's Review
#Anthony Brown's classic is here!

A story about three wishes that a transcendent being promised to grant, but end up losing them due to a ridiculous slip of the tongue and an argument.
This familiar story, which you may have heard somewhere, is none other than the world-famous classic fairy tale, “The Three Wishes,” by the Brothers Grimm.
Anthony Browne, the storyteller who always captivates readers with creative and novel stories, presents this classic fairy tale in his own unique style.
What wishes did the children make to the fairy? And what happened to the giant banana? A familiar yet uniquely entertaining "Anthony Browne" story awaits readers.

#What is your wish? A story that asks us a question.

A wish, a fervent desire for something to happen.
Who doesn't have a wish? From small, trivial things like wanting a delicious dinner tonight or hoping your favorite sports team wins, to more ardent and profound wishes like becoming incredibly rich or winning someone's heart.
We always live our lives wishing for big and small things.
But if one day a transcendent being suddenly appeared and said he would grant our wishes, what would we really want? And would the granted wish bring us happiness?

"A Huge Wish" is a work that gives us something to think about, using the universal theme of "wish" that everyone can relate to.
The children were so happy when the fairy who granted their wishes appeared.
But that was only for a moment, after wasting one wish in vain, the children were no longer happy.
On the contrary, I became more unhappy and miserable than before the fairy appeared.

In this short and simple story, Anthony Browne asks you to think about what you really want right now and what will make you happy.
It also asks whether we are missing out on what is most important because of petty greed, jealousy, and arguments.
Furthermore, it talks about the power of positivity that makes you happy in any situation.

While our individual desires may vary slightly, isn't it ultimately a desire to be happy now? This work conveys the message that, rather than requiring the help of some immense, transcendent being, you can achieve your wish for happiness now, if you put your mind to it.
So, this book is one that you can read with a light laugh, but after you close the book, it makes you ponder and think deeply.

#Why did Anthony Browne change the back cover at the end?
A device like a 'play stage' that is more interesting the more you know about it

Readers who look closely at the book will notice that the large red curtain depicted on the cover is depicted as if the curtain is opening on a theatrical stage.
Not only on the cover but also in the text, the first scene has curtains spread out on both sides as if a play is beginning, and in the very last scene, the curtains are all closed as if the stage has ended.
And the back cover also shows the stage with the curtains closed, after the play has ended.
Anthony Browne even made a last-minute revision to the cover to depict a stage with the curtains closed on the back cover.
Also, in the text, you can see strong shadows drawn behind the characters, as if they were illuminated on a theatrical stage.
Anthony Browne deliberately composed this piece to make it seem like a play.

This unique device, set up by Anthony Browne, allows readers to leave the book feeling as if they have truly witnessed a short play, leaving a lasting impression after closing the book.
Moreover, we can see that this is not a story about a specific person, but a story that poses questions to all readers of this work.

#The world of Anthony Browne's illustrations that enrich the story

Beyond the theatrical stage setting, this piece becomes more interesting the more you look at it carefully.
This is because the artist has hidden various symbols and meanings throughout the painting.
When the fairy says she will grant them their wishes, the excited and thrilled children start to think of many wishes.
As if to represent the hearts of these children, the wallpaper in the picture is filled with hidden pictures of various wishes that children can think of, such as a luxury car, a cool guitar, a sports trophy, a cute pet, and an airplane symbolizing overseas travel.
In the scene where Lambert says he is hungry and wants to eat a banana, there are lots of bananas drawn in the background, as if we are looking into Lambert's head.
Anthony Browne tells stories he never wrote through his drawings.

It is also full of Anthony Brown's signature charming characters and colorful charm.
In particular, this work features the artist's signature characters, such as monkeys and bananas, and fully showcases the charm of Anthony Browne's paintings.
With lovely and colorful illustrations that become more interesting the more you read, a familiar and entertaining story, and a final conclusion that leaves readers questioning, Anthony Browne's new world of imagination will once again immerse readers in it.
