My appearance may be a little different from the image of a psychic that people usually have in mind.
I don't read my fortune with tea leaves or tarot cards.
It's not like we're welcoming people in a small space attached to a store.
I am not a fortune teller and I do not use crystal balls.
I do have a small crystal ball, but it's just a decorative item that I bought at the store because I thought it was pretty.
I just have some abilities that are more developed than others.
I have clairvoyance.
It means that you can find out information about people or events through means other than your five senses.
They also have the ability to hear sounds without using their ears.
They also have extrasensory perception abilities, which allows them to sense things in ways that are different from what normal people can experience.

I have the ability to communicate with people who have passed away.
If you ask me how I came to have this ability, my first answer would be, “I don’t know.”
In fact, I've been trying to find out the answer my whole life.
It also went through rigorous testing.
The first was a test by the Eternal Family Foundation, a nonprofit that provides science-based help to people experiencing significant loss.

I told my mom everything.
I told him everything, including the premonition of my grandfather's death, the dream in which I saw him, and all my guilt and fears.
As I was talking, tears started to fall.
"Mom, why am I like this? Does knowing this in advance mean I'm a bad person? Did my grandfather die because of me? Am I cursed? Why am I different from others?"
My mother put her hand on my shoulder and sat me down at the dining table.
And he took my hand and said this.
“Listen carefully to what your mother says.
Your maternal grandfather didn't die because of you.
It's not like you're cursed.
So, there is absolutely no need to feel guilty.
You just have special abilities.
That's all."
That was the first time I heard the word ability applied to my confusing situation.
“It's just a part of you.
And every part of you is beautiful.”
Mom kept talking.
“It’s natural.
There's no need to be afraid.
“The universe is much bigger than we think.”
Then my mother told me a story that would change everything.
It seemed that my spiritual abilities had been passed down through generations on my maternal side.

As a teenager, I think I believed that my spiritual powers were inseparable from, and even central to, my ultimate purpose in life.
I couldn't avoid or stop those thoughts.
So I wanted to control this ability well and use it for good.

The purpose of my life could not be this difficult, this painful, this bitter.
That kind of 'cognition' couldn't be good.
It must have been harmful.
I decided to turn away from my spiritual abilities.
I neither wanted nor needed it.

The kitten was at his feet.
He said there was something his daughter absolutely had to know.
“Joan, this may sound strange, but your father showed you a kitten and told you that he needed to know that it was okay.”
Joan remained silent for a long time, then opened her mouth with difficulty.
“I think I know what you mean, Father.
Actually, I've never told this story to anyone... … .”
Joan said that when she was little, she heard that cats land lightly even if they fall from high places.
She wanted to see for herself if that was true, so she picked up a tiny kitten named Bristle, who she had been raising at home.
Then, he went to the window of the 5th floor apartment where he lived with his family and dropped the cat out the window.
The kitten fell into India and died.
For the next 50 years, Joan lived with a deep and bitter guilt about her actions.
Deep down, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was a terrible person.
I could never forgive myself for killing the cat, and my life became harder and darker because of it.
Joan's father was telling her:
'Stop it.
Just put it down now.
The guilt you carry is not yours to bear.
Now forgive yourself and let go.'
The conversation between Joan and her father was incredibly moving, as it was for Joan, and for me as well.
After the counseling session, Joan began to feel less guilty.
The time spent ruminating on the mistakes I made has decreased.
As time passed, my thoughts about myself also changed from being horrible and unkind to being kind, affectionate, and good.
By embracing the path of light, Joan was able to become a clearer and better person.

Barb, a woman in her fifties, spoke to me on the phone from her kitchen in Pennsylvania, relaying what I was saying to her husband, Tony, who was sitting next to her.
“My husband doesn’t believe in this at all.
I think that when you die, it's over.
If you bury it in the ground, it all disappears.
Still, I would like you to talk to my husband.”
Barb told me.
And before I could say anything, Barb handed the phone over to her husband.
'Oh, no.
What happens now? Will the afterlife reveal itself to even the most skeptical of people?
As I was thinking this, Tony greeted me with an annoyed voice.
It seemed like he was trying to show that he didn't believe in such things at all.
I took a deep breath and waited for someone to come for him.
Then someone appeared.
It was his father.
Tony's father introduced himself as Robert and said he had an urgent message for his son.
“Your father is here.
I have something important to tell you.
It is very important for me to receive this message accurately and convey it properly.
“Your father is telling you he’s sorry about the belt.”
I told Tony.
Tony was silent on the other end of the phone.
I continued speaking.
“Father has something he wants to tell you.
Your father went to the other world and looked back on his life before he realized what he had done.
So, I'm really sorry about the belt thing.
Your father is asking for your forgiveness.
“I am waiting for you to forgive me.”
I heard Tony sobbing quietly.

I told my parents.
“Your children are here.
And the kids have a story to tell you.
The children said, 'Don't worry about us anymore.
We are fine and okay.
You can put down your worries and fears.
That's how we can be together.
“There are so many things I want to tell you,” he said.
With these words, the tension that had been filling the room disappeared.
A certain sense of pressure was lifted.
Only then did I understand why the kids came to my car before the event.
The children knew that their parents would be wary.
I knew that my parents would build walls around themselves to hide their sadness, pain, and anger.
They also knew that the wall would muffle their voices.
So the children came to me with a common message for all parents.
“Break down the walls and let go of the boundaries.
That way you can see us.
Don't be afraid, confused, or in denial.
Please know that we are here with you, Mom and Dad, right now.”
These vibrant, light-filled children were inviting us to swim in their happy energy.
I felt only pure love.
There was no pain, no fear, no guilt, only love.

When I do spiritual counseling, pets often appear to convey important messages.
These messages may relate to the guilt we feel about the deaths of animals.
Was euthanizing them the right decision? Did I do everything I could to save them? Did I perhaps cause them further suffering? Anyone who has ever loved an animal can understand these feelings.
A woman I recently consulted had two dogs appear.
The larger dog was a retriever and the smaller one was a terrier.
I could tell that the woman was feeling terribly guilty.
I told the woman.
“The retriever is telling you not to feel guilty about his death.
You did the right thing.
At that time, it was just time for the retriever to leave.
You stayed by his side when he left.
He is saying that he appreciates you being so kind and affectionate to him and being there for him.
“All this dog sends you is love, love.”
At my words, the woman burst into tears.
She said she had to make a difficult decision when her retriever became sick.
He had to choose between a surgery with almost no hope or euthanasia.
She wanted to do everything she could, but the dog had been sick for so long that a risky surgery didn't feel right.
She ultimately decided to let the dog rest in peace instead of having surgery.
Soon after deciding to euthanize, she began to fear that she had made the wrong choice, that she had truly done all she could, that she had abandoned the dog when it needed her most.
If that was the case, I felt like I could never forgive myself.
As we began our consultation, the message her dog had sent became clear.
'I'm fine.'
I saw the retriever in the afterlife with the little terrier she had when she was little.
He looked comfortable and happy.
I didn't have to suffer anymore.
What mattered most was that he was grateful for her love.

One of the most important lessons the afterlife has to teach us is that we are all connected as spiritual beings.
But Kyle never felt that kind of bond.
I have never experienced anything like that in my life.
Rather, I thought of the world as a divided place, a place where I had to stand alone.
In his view, people were vulgar, selfish, and hurtful.
So I thought there was no need to try to build a painful relationship, and I always felt alone.

As soon as we began spiritual counseling, Kyle emerged strong and clear.
He wanted to tell what happened.
I told Nancy.
“Kyle shows the scene of the car crash and says he wasn’t in the car.
It also lets you know that it wasn't your fault.
People are seen surrounding Kyle on the street, with one person holding his hands and head.
He says this very scene is important.
He left this world surrounded by people who cared for him until his last moment.
Kyle wasn't alone.
“When Kyle closed his eyes, someone was holding him.”
Nancy was crying on the other end of the phone.
She told me the story of Kyle's accident.
