The Galileo series is a popular series that is on par with the "Detective Kaga series" in the Higashino world. It is about genius physicist Manabu Yukawa helping his college classmate, elite detective Kusunagi of the Metropolitan Police Department's Investigation Division 1, solve a labyrinthine case.

Yugawa uses his brilliant ideas and sharp insight based on cutting-edge scientific knowledge to dramatically rescue Detective Kusunagi, who is always in a tight spot.
Even when Detective Kusunagi asks for help, he pretends to be indifferent and grumbles, but he is a tsundere who extends a helping hand at a crucial moment.
But in this episode of 『Silent Parade』, he unexpectedly volunteers and actively intervenes in the incident.

In the small town of Kikuno in the countryside, Saori, a pretty girl who was popular among the townspeople for her singing skills, goes missing.
Three years later, Saori returns as a burnt corpse, and the once quiet air in the village begins to stir.

The suspect is a gangster named Hasunuma, who was a suspect in the Adachi Ward girl murder case that Detective Kusunagi was in charge of when he was appointed to the Metropolitan Police Department.
At the time, Hasunuma was arrested as a prime suspect, but after thoroughly exercising his right to remain silent, he was released as not guilty and even received compensation from the state.
A person Kusunagi will never forget.

After a difficult investigation, Kusunagi manages to arrest Hasunuma, but Hasunuma exercises his right to remain silent as before, and the police once again release him due to insufficient evidence.
Going a step further, Hasunuma visits the restaurant run by the parents of the deceased Saori and threatens them to pay compensation, claiming that he was wrongly accused of being the culprit.
His appearance plunges the entire village into hatred and resentment, and the bereaved family and villagers who loved Saori fall into deep doubt, believing that justice cannot be achieved through judicial power.

Then, on the day of the town's autumn festival parade, Hasunuma is found murdered by someone, and the panicked police begin investigating those who might have a motive to kill Hasunuma, but they all have alibis.
Yuga and Manabu, aka Detective Galileo, are thrown into the case by chance, and the silent townspeople begin to be wary of him.

The work is full of twists and turns.
Readers will not be able to put the book down until the very end, where the most powerful twist in Keigo Higashino's history awaits.

In this work, Keigo Higashino has also masterfully depicted his specialty, the "human patterns created by complex human relationships."
As the joys and sorrows of each character and the background of their emotions are peeled away, and the unique circumstances contained within each are revealed, readers become deeply involved in the characters in the novel.

The work reaches its climax as the silence to protect a loved one and the unusual scenery of the town's bustling parade intersect.

Keigo Higashino explains this work in an interview, “The mystery is set in motion by the combined efforts of good, ordinary people who love the victimized girl and who set detective Galileo in motion.”
"The Silent Parade" is a work that allows you to experience the essence of humanism that is hard to find anywhere else, as ordinary people build a "fortress of silence" with all their might to protect the justice that the judiciary cannot realize, and detectives Galileo and Kusunagi struggle to uncover the hidden truth.
