An empty bag of snacks, a toy you're tired of, an eraser that's worn out and no longer usable, a tissue you've used to blow your nose... ... Our children probably threw away a lot of trash today too.
However, even though we throw away trash every day, many people do not realize how much impact trash has on the environment and how important it is to dispose of the trash we throw away.

Currently, 360,000 tons of waste are generated in our country every day.
It's an amount that would require 30,000 large trucks to transport.
So, in the metropolitan landfill, which is eight times the size of Yeouido, a ‘mountain of garbage’ is created every day.
What will happen if this garbage continues to pile up? No matter how vast the space, there's no place where the overflowing garbage can be permanently buried.
If waste is not properly disposed of, it can contaminate the air, water, and soil, causing serious environmental pollution.
So, garbage pollution is an important issue that must be taught to children who throw away garbage every day.

Waste, which began with the history of mankind, is currently causing serious environmental pollution due to the enormous amount of waste generated and its disposal.

First, recyclable waste is separated and made into new materials, and the rest is burned or buried in the ground.
In landfills, waste is buried in the ground, and the gas generated is used to run a generator, and the leachate is purified into clean water.
But no matter how well we dispose of our waste, the land we can bury it in is limited.

This is thanks to the high-quality photo paintings that came out after countless shots.
Artist Lee Kyung-guk, who was selected as the 'Bologna Illustrator of the Year', vividly captured the scene in a picture book using photos taken during several visits to the landfill.
However, rather than using the photographs as they were taken, he delicately collaged them into a picture book, creating a new world full of fun and visual beauty.

Author Park Ki-young has been working in environmental related fields for 15 years and is currently working at the Capital Area Landfill Management Corporation.
He is a domestic waste expert who has taught waste disposal technology to other countries and has also conducted research on creating green energy from waste.
