As social systems become more convenient, sophisticated, and complex, they become less numerous.

Those parents also lost their youth a long time ago.

Genji reminds us that the most common outlets are alcohol and lottery tickets.
By encouraging the illusion of quick wealth, the lottery “blocks the possibility of questioning the slave’s condition and developing into rebellion.”
Alcohol, which can be consumed anywhere and anytime, is more dangerous.
“Alcohol is the right drug to relieve the anger of slaves.”
In front of alcohol, neither frustration, sadness, nor anger can be contained.
When alcohol enters the body, the arrows no longer aim at the nation and society, and the explosion of emotions that could have been the driving force for rebuilding an ideal society and nation is lost.
Even legitimate claims for rights are buried in the headache of a hangover the next day.
After getting dressed for work, I mutter to myself that this is the only path for me, that this is the life I deserve, and I board the inhumanely crowded train.
And by the time you get to work, half of your daily energy needs have already been used up.

Genji criticizes reporters for “really easily accepting information that is distorted and leaked to the benefit of those in power in the country, and at best, publishing it as articles and reporting it as news with comments that are not even critical.”
It also reminds us that they are nothing more than employees who have no choice but to obey the will of their superiors.
Even though journalists pride themselves on being different from ordinary office workers and taking responsibility for social justice, they are also office workers who must live with an excessive amount of scrutiny.
I am nothing more than an employee who has no choice but to follow the will of my superiors.
Because of this, even if you activate your keen senses and detect serious signs of the times, you cannot go as far as to write and thoroughly resist.
In this sense of chronic giving up and being busy protecting oneself, there is no difference in consciousness from workers in other industries.
If you throw them a carrot or something and bring their prey right in front of them, they will shut their mouths tightly and back away.
The noble resolution to bend his own convictions and become a lion of justice on his first day at work is now considered so childish and immature that even the mere thought of it is embarrassing, and he throws it into the trash can of his mind.

He advises that the reason you feel as if you don't have the strength is because "you don't know how to draw out the strength, and you don't have the habit of exerting your strength."
So how can we bring out that power?
We should not do the foolish thing of trying to acquire independent youth through sweet images or frivolous aesthetics.
It is something to be ashamed of.
Self-reliance cannot be achieved without struggling and relying solely on one's own strength.
Even if you spend your whole life trying, you will barely be able to reach that threshold.
It's at the end of a long and arduous road that can sometimes lead to ugly encounters.

The first condition for staying young is “never be fooled.”
To avoid being deceived, one must learn to doubt all power and authority.
It is better to think of all power and authority as fraud.
In the process of pleasing power and authority, youth is immediately destroyed and reduced to a human being who is alive but not alive.
Therefore, Genji warns that even if one does not directly participate in politics, it is dangerous to be completely indifferent to what the government does.
