Responding to love
Description
Book Introduction
The warm and cheerful comforter, Na Tae-joo's love method

Hug me first and then embrace you too
The color of life and death that supports and cheers until the end

Uninterpreted moments of life, for people
Get to know each other little by little.
I just cherish and love the path that has been given to me.

This is a collection of essays about 'love' confessed by poet Na Tae-ju of the Wildflowers.
To the poet, love is like life: “No matter how much you think about it, it doesn’t have a clear definition, and no matter how much you repeat it, it’s still clumsy and immature,” and he says, “Shouldn’t we live thinking about it in indifferent terms?”
This is precisely why the subtitle of this book is “Life, Death, and Color.”

The poet stated that he wrote this book “to make myself happy.”
So, if you want to be happy, you should read this book.
Just as the poet's poems are concise yet strong, and strong yet soft, the poet's voice heard in this book is also infinitely warm and full of a unique cheerfulness.

Into the book
I wanted to live anyway.
But it occurred to me that no power on Earth could save me.
Still, I wanted to live.
I wanted to become someone who could survive by borrowing some mysterious power from somewhere outside the Earth, in the middle of the universe.
I truly believed that if I could draw upon the power of the universe beyond Earth, I would be resurrected.
That's how I wanted to live.

---p.61

Looking back, I feel grateful to those who took charge of my heart.
No, I feel sorry.
I am someone who has often and for a long time lived as a burden to someone.
I am once again grateful and sorry.
People who are now forgotten in the memories of the past, whose names are vague.

---p.85

Humans are inherently learning beings.
No, learning itself is life and living.
I can't live without learning every single moment of the day.
Humans learn mainly from other humans, and those who are older than them are their teachers.
That's right.
The word teacher itself means someone who was born first.
That's really true.
A wise man is one who lives his life learning from those who came before him.
Parents, older siblings, neighbors, and school teachers will all become teachers.
An even wiser person would be one who learns not only from people, but also from books, nature, and the world.

---p.140

Was love really our salvation?
Was it a trap?
Love that was both salvation and a trap.
Among the people in this world, there probably aren't many who clearly know the true nature of love and love it.
Just that attraction.
Just that ambiguity.
Foggy area.
Because that must have been love.
(Omitted) Love is the true energy of life.
The country of last hope that cannot be abandoned until the end.
The first human relationship begins with love, and the last human relationship is completed with love.

---pp.180-181

Everyone is different.
It is a unique existence.
Therefore, I believe that people's dreams do not need to be the same, but should be unique and belong to that person.
I think that when you find that unique dream, you become a successful person.
True success is becoming who you want to be.
Also, I think life is about wandering around trying to find the person I want to be.

---p.193

“God, I am standing at the edge of a cliff.
Please don't push me.
If you push me just a little, I fall.
“God, please hold me with your fragrant, good, and powerful right arm.”
---p.231

It is impossible for a person to live even for a moment without hope for the future.
I also call it 'the star kept in my heart'.
A person who has a star in his heart never compares himself to others.
Don't treat others as your competition.
Rather, that person's object of comparison, his competitor, is myself.
The goal of that person's life is to become a better version of himself than he was yesterday.
Becoming a better version of myself than I was yesterday.
What a wonderful life goal! Then, he will become a person who changes and evolves every day.
You will become a person who shines on your own.

---p.238

The road is my teacher.
The road is my companion.
Companion.
That's life itself. Living each day means walking a path, whether it's an unfamiliar one or a familiar one.
The day the road disappears completely before me, my life will disappear too.
The fact that someone has a path tells us that his life is still in progress.
The road is love, hope, future, and excitement.
It is a matter of cherishing and loving the path given to us.

Publisher's Review
“I hope that in your future, I will believe in you and love you.
May God bless you.”

Although the scenery of life may all seem similar, the fifty or so pieces of writing that caught the poet's eye and were written one by one are sometimes like a diary, and sometimes like a prayer.
The poet expressed the great theme of life, love, in everyday language that anyone can see, like a flower in the wild.
It softly talks about the bleakness of life, moments between life and death, and memories of suffering from lack and failure.
The poet's stories of wanting to become a banker and count money to his heart's content, but instead working as a teacher for 43 years, and struggling with loss and illness, are gently told.
The language of great and lofty love is expressed through the poet in a way that is as free and clear as a dinner table conversation, and as I read, I find myself putting down my heavy burden and taking a deep breath.
It reminds me that a life I thought was filled with poverty and pain was filled with voices of love and comfort, and that there was encouragement and support from the God I believed in and from my loved ones everywhere.
The poet's father tells him that he has lived with strength in "this wonderfully jingling world" and that he has learned the attitude of life of "cherishing and loving the path given to me."
Borrowing from the poet's words that love is seeing "until the very end, until the very end," I would like to respond to someone's love with this book.
