Into the book
A circle has no exit, but a spiral has an exit.
It will definitely be slower than walking in a straight line.
But because I didn't walk in a straight line, I was able to see more.
I was able to meet more people, experience more things, and feel more emotions.
So I don't regret anything and I'm satisfied with most things.
I am resigned to the things that were clearly wrong.
It's not a life I'd recommend to others, and it's not something I'm particularly proud of, but I walked that way because that's the only way I could walk.
--- p.14

The meaning of life is something we cannot fully understand, no matter how hard we try.
There are many things in the world more important than continuing to try to know what you don't know.
It's much more important to be true to the present moment, meet the people you love, and laugh at least once more.
--- p.27

I also learned that in order to build new friendships, I had to lower the height of the wall surrounding my heart a little.
It's not an easy task.
But there is no way to build a friendship without either harming or being harmed by the other.
--- p.47

It's really annoying to meet people who don't understand me, who spit on me, and who make me feel bad.
Even having to work face-to-face with such people every day, how painful that must be.
But without them, how could I know who I am? Human individuality is revealed like the marks of friction at the boundaries between me and others.
To avoid being trapped in our own rooms and thinking that only what enters our narrow field of vision is the whole world, to break free from the illusion that our lives are ruined, to accept ourselves as we are, we open the door today and take a step toward a life of mutual support and conflict with others.
--- p.56

There is life outside of work.
Quitting your job doesn't mean your world will end.
Even without this, I'm still me.
--- p.145

After all, money is meant to be spent.
That too, well, creatively.
The things I buy, the people I meet, the experiences I have had will all shape my future self.
So, recognizing that money is the lubricant of life, no more, no less, may be the first step to elegant consumption.
--- p.158

Can you continue to do what you love even when you know it won't be successful?
As the lyrics of the song that Lwin sings to his father say, to achieve his dream of catching a school of herring, he will have to fight the sea day and night.
Even when the wind blows, even when it's calm, even when there's a gust of wind, even when we're drenched in sweat, even when it's cold, even when we grow old, even when it's time to die, we will live dreaming of a school of herring.
Whether or not you can meet a school of herring.
--- p.196

When things aren't going well, when things are difficult, when you're confused, if you just look down and walk, you might stumble over the big and small dangers that lie ahead.
If you get bogged down in your current difficulties and flounder, you may end up taking the wrong path.
At times like that, I need to look a little further than my feet and see where I am and where I am going.
After that, you need to calmly figure out what you can and should do now.
--- p.220

Dreaming of the house I want to live in, living in the house I want to live in, is part of my effort to live a life that is my own and not someone else's.
And to live my own life, I need my own definition of happiness and the courage to put it into practice.

--- p.234

The reason I write is to make money, but more importantly, I want to talk to people.
I want to let you know that there is another person in the world who is just as lonely as you, who often feels inferior, who is constantly confused, and who suffers from jealousy, anger, and anxiety.
I thought that what I wrote might at least serve to gently grab people's tired wrists and then let go.
The warmth will soon disappear, but the memory of that warmth will last a long time.
I'm talking about the warmth I felt while reading countless books and watching countless movies, which has given me strength to live on until now.
