The Secret of Long-Living Cats
Description
Book Introduction
My hobby is translation, and I want a dictionary with a human touch.
End-of-the-century days of running, beer, and cats

Living as a novelist at my own pace in a world full of mysteries

This is a collection of about 60 essays serialized in Weekly Asahi from 1995 to 1996.
In addition to the small discoveries and brilliant wit of everyday life, you can also get a glimpse of the author's thoughts on the period when he entered the ranks of popular authors after the success of "Norwegian Wood," episodes from living abroad, and thoughts on his identity as a writer and the reality of the publishing industry.
The story of Muse, the Siamese cat that appears in the title and that Haruki Murakami has raised since he dreamed of becoming a novelist, reveals the side of him as a self-proclaimed cat lover.

Publisher's Review
Meet the young Haruki Murakami, a lifelong learner, not a writer.
A revised edition of the legendary essay series by Haruki Murakami and Mizumaru Anzai has been published!

Haruki Murakami, who has received widespread love and support for works such as “Norwegian Wood” and “Kafka on the Shore,” once again created a sensation in Korea in 2009 with “1Q84.”
His main occupation is, of course, a novelist, but readers who have been reading his work for a long time will remember the series of essay collections with simple and witty illustrations by Anzai Mizumaru.
This essay, considered the most beloved series by Haruki Murakami fans, is presented in a new form.
This collection of works allows one to experience the simple and lovely sentiments of the 1980s and 1990s and the romance of city life, as well as a side of Haruki Murakami's life that is different from what is seen in his novels.

Anzai Mizumaru, an illustrator who has been active in various fields such as book design, advertising, and comics, is a long-time acquaintance of Haruki Murakami, who has known him since the time he was practicing writing at a jazz café before he debuted as a novelist and won the Gunzo New Writer's Award for "Hear the Wind Sing."
The character 'Watanabe Noboru', who appears frequently in short stories including 'Attack on the Bakery', is none other than his real name.
As they are such close friends, there is no need to mention the fantastic chemistry these two show in their respective works.
The 'Murakami Asahi' series, which is especially famous for its humorous and light-hearted essays and simple yet stylish illustrations, can be said to be the representative work of this duo.

The essay masterpieces published by Munhakdongne consist of six volumes: 『Valentine's Day's Mumalrang』, 『A Pencil in a Sailor Suit』, 『Cool and Wild Daydream』, and 『The Secret of the Long-Lived Cat』, which are compilations of the two's collaborative works that were serialized in various magazines, as well as 『The Happy End of the Elephant Factory』, their first collaborative work, and 『The Factory of the Rising Sun』, a compilation of their factory tours over the course of about six months.
