Into the book
In this book, I want to share with you what I have learned from countless people, from ancient philosophers and mystics to modern scientists and ordinary scientists like myself—what I call a gift from heaven.
This gift can only be received by opening our hearts to the one great truth known to those who lived before us.
The truth is that there is a world bigger than the one we see every day.
There is a larger world that loves us beyond our imagination, and we hope to discover hints of that world in our daily lives, and that world watches over us at every moment. --- From "Prologue: A Great Gift from Heaven"
Like many surgeons in modern society, I was knowledgeable only in the physical aspects of human beings and ignorant of the mental aspects.
I didn't believe that such a world existed.
Then, in 2008, I had a near-death experience.
What I experienced, like all the stories I've heard from people I've met, is an example of what's happening to us as a massive cultural phenomenon.
We all carry memories of heaven deep in our hearts.
The purpose of this book is to bring those memories to the surface and help you find your own map that will guide you straight there.
---From "Prologue: A Great Gift from Heaven"
We are just beginning to understand who we are and what we are.
The body contains countless clues to our original form as a cosmic being.
When all things work together, the body becomes not only the anchor and smokescreen of our spiritual reality, but also the instrument by which we bring these powers down to earth.
The same is true of the human brain, as can be seen in children who have been proven to be geniuses or gifted.
Let me be clear: there is a reason why we are spiritual beings experiencing the earthly world.
We came to earth to learn, but we came with tools far greater than we know to accomplish that learning.
Our adventures in the material world are not simply tests, much less punishments.
It is the unfolding of the universe itself, a chapter in its evolution.
---From "Chapter 5: The Gift of Belonging"
The meaning is here, always.
But in this world, it is probably easier to forget that fact than anywhere else in the universe.
Sometimes, when the world is completely enveloped in darkness, the other world speaks to us using the language and symbols of this world.
Sometimes loudly like lightning, sometimes softly like the tapping of a beetle on a window.
And with him comes the joy of our lives.
As Natalie Sudman said, it is not a joy that compensates for the suffering of the world, but a joy that exists in our hearts despite the suffering of the world.
---From Chapter 6, The Gift of Joy
I solved the most fundamental problem of humanity, the loss of newness and hope, in the world above.
A world that remains as it was, a world filled with the things of the earth we are familiar with, but a world where everything has become richer and more mysterious, a strangely new world.
When I looked at the flowers in the afterlife, they seemed to bloom and bloom again.
How can flowers that bloom and fall on Earth continue to bloom there? It's impossible on Earth.
Because in this world, we are completely immersed in linear time, or in the illusion of linear time. --- From “Chapter 7: The Gift of Hope”
Now I know that there are other dimensions above this world, with other waters and other skies, and landscapes similar to those on Earth.
In that landscape, there are meadows with blooming flowers, thunderous waterfalls, and peaceful fields where animals and people live and breathe.
All these worlds are more beautiful, more delicate, more transparent than the previous ones, and that makes me love and appreciate the same earthly things more.
Why? Because now I know where all these earthly things come from.
Because it is a reality that exists in a higher dimension connected to this world, which people so easily and naturally expressed with the phrase “as in heaven, so on earth.”
---From Chapter 7, The Gift of Hope
It couldn't be anything but a truly shocking fact.
Although all scientists still today, by and large, choose to ignore that fact.
Much to the chagrin of many scientists who believe that the day is near when everything in the universe will be perfectly explained in material terms, consciousness is now emerging as a core area of science and refuses to be relegated to the periphery any longer.
As time has passed and scientific experiments at the subatomic level, commonly known as quantum mechanics, have become more sophisticated, the central, if inexplicable, role of consciousness in all these experiments has become clearer.

Publisher's Review
A doctor's confession after seeing the world of light!
You will experience a heart-pounding joy with the desire to 'live differently' from now.
-Lee Hae-in, nun and poet
A Harvard neurosurgeon's vivid account of the secrets of the brain, consciousness, and life.
[I Saw Heaven] The Story That Happened
“This is more astonishing than anything I’ve seen in 40 years of research on near-death experiences.”
-Raymond Moody, American psychiatrist
“It is an event in which a frog in a well experiences that there is a magnificent ocean outside the well.”
Jeong Hyeon-chae, Professor of Internal Medicine, Seoul National University College of Medicine
Dr. Alexander's near-death experience became a landmark event that overturned modern scientific orthodoxy about life and broke the medical taboo on death.
His experience served as a decisive turning point in approaching the secret of consciousness, as it provided evidence that consciousness exists even in a brain-dead state.
Dr. Alexander analyzed his experiences through scientific inquiry, medical verification, philosophical insight, and religious reflection, and began to unravel the secrets of consciousness that modern science could not explain.
Since the worldwide bestseller "I Saw Heaven," Dr. Alexander's research to prove the existence of heaven has expanded to encompass modern science, religion, ancient philosophy, and the experiences of spiritual seekers, resulting in the most complete map of heaven.
[I Saw Heaven Part 2] begins with the discovery that insights into the afterlife had already been achieved in ancient times.
Plato, who believed that an ideal life unfolds after death, and Aristotle, who praised the wonders of the material world.
Dr. Alexander realized that the two philosophies that formed the basis of modern science were ultimately leading to the same conclusion.
They all wanted to find the source of our existence.
Dr. Alexander predicts that the day will not be far off when humanity will realize that the minds of Plato and Aristotle, and the stories of all scientists and philosophers, are all pointing to the same conclusion.
In [The Second Story of I Saw Heaven], evidence of heaven is continuously revealed through ancient philosophy, human philosophy and insight, scientific research, records of spiritual practitioners, and spiritual experiences sent in by readers around the world.
“Unless you know that you can grow through death, you will be nothing more than a weary traveler on the dark earth.”
-Goethe, German writer, scientist, and politician
“I don’t believe it.
I just know.”
Carl Jung, Swiss psychiatrist and psychologist
“Many people have specific, deeply embracing transcendental experiences at some point in their lives.
It is not a particularly religious experience, unlike anything they have ever experienced before.
Most people who experience it come away convinced that the everyday world is not the whole of reality, that there are other dimensions of life.” - Alistair Hardy, British marine biologist
The heaven you had forgotten, your last memory finally revived
Are we ready to face the great truth?
'Who are we, where do we come from, and where are we going?' Humanity has spent so much time searching for answers to these questions.
And in the midst of that time, Dr. Alexander, who experienced heaven, took notice of 'consciousness', which modern science had long overlooked but whose existence can no longer be denied.
He introduces the efforts that have been made to prove 'consciousness' so far and explains that consciousness is no longer a false experience of mystics, but rather the most important part that explains our life, the universe, and the soul.
How much has humanity overlooked in the name of science! Things science has obscured, truths it has failed to explain. Now, we must accept the need for a new perspective, one that transcends material values and views everything.
This is neither an old, heavy, and dogmatic "religious" worldview, nor a materialistic, objectifying "scientific" worldview. Rather, it is a new worldview that allows us to avoid getting lost in linear thinking that recognizes only material values; it is a worldview that can find the answers that humanity has been searching for so desperately.
“We listen to religious leaders, experts, and politicians,
“I believe that the people who really tell the truth are scientists.”
-Lawrence Leshan, American psychologist
“The day science begins to study immaterial phenomena,
“We will make more progress in 10 years than science has in all the centuries it has existed.”
-Nikola Tesla, American electrical engineer
Countless experiences, the reason why the same experiences are repeated across time and space, the truth left behind by intellectuals who have left their mark on human history, such as Carl Jung, Alister Hardy, Swedenborg, Gustav Fechner, Goethe, and Pascal, about the world after death.
Through bold and meticulous research into the world beyond death—including science, philosophy, religion, and the records of spiritual experiences—the door to the truth we so desperately sought to know is finally opening.
[I Saw Heaven Part 2] introduces the map of heaven that was completed in this way.
A perfect map of heaven, the clearest, most concrete, most logical explanation, one that even scientifically inclined intellectuals with a materialistic worldview can't help but accept! It contains astonishing insights that transcend all disciplines and religions, signaling the time has come to embrace the truth we've long forgotten.
“This world is an illusion.
But it is an illusion we must take seriously.
Because to some extent it is real.
We must find a way to belong to this world without being in it.”
-Aldous Huxley, British novelist and critic
“This book is clear evidence that it will be accepted as a given that consciousness survives the death of the body.”
-Larry Dorsey, MD, USA
