Blu between coolness and passion
Description
Book Introduction
A promise that only I remember
"Between Calm and Passion," which resonated with countless readers and quickly became a bestseller upon its publication, is now available to readers with a special recover edition commemorating its 24th anniversary.
There are two writers who have decided to 'take turns writing a novel together'.
Male writers write from the perspective of the male protagonist, and female writers write from the perspective of the female protagonist.
The series, which was serialized in magazines for two years, was compiled into a book.
While writing the story of a man and a woman who live their own lives while still holding on to their ex-lovers, the two authors said they felt like they were actually in love.
The couple translators, Yang Eok-gwan and Kim Nan-ju, translated the relay love story that had been written over two years.
The two translators delicately translated the subtle feelings of lovers who have broken up but still miss each other.
This book is two stories, yet one story, created by two authors, two protagonists, and two translators.
Aoi and Junsei, who met in college and became lovers, break up due to an unfortunate misunderstanding and go on to live their own lives.
Although they each have new lovers by their side, they cannot let go of the longing for each other that remains like dots.
What loosely binds them, who have already parted ways, is a promise made in the happiest of times, as if it were a passing joke.
The promise to meet at the Duomo in Florence on my 30th birthday, 10 years later.
A man who cannot stand on his feet in the present and wanders in the shadows of the past.
The story of Junsei, who regrets yesterday that will never return and draws on memories and promises made with his lover Aoi, whom he broke up with eight years ago.

Into the book
It was the same day as yesterday.
It comes with a strange resonance.
We may think we can always go back to yesterday, but we can never go back.
Yesterday was just a little while ago, but tomorrow is forever beyond reach.
I said I wouldn't leave
You are not here now
Forever, unattainable
Always passing by
Here, I am
I'm alive
It felt like the streets of Florence were spread out across the door.
The Arno River, Giovanna's workshop, Ponte Vecchio, Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery, and the Duomo.
The past began to swirl in my heart again.
I couldn't move a single step from that spot.
I closed my eyes.
There stood a teenage girl named Aoi.
It was the sight of Aoi walking alone down a dark street.
I wanted to shout out the name of that figure in my imagination.
Towards her lonely figure, her slender shoulders drooping, as if she might collapse at any moment.
Like someone who had given up on everything, I decided to forget Aoi.
To this day, the Aoi in my heart persistently digs into my daily life.
But now everything feels lighter, as if I've overcome the flu.
No, it's not lightness, but rather heaviness.
It was so heavy that I had no choice but to give up.
As a restorer, I thought about what to restore and how to restore it.
How can I restore a picture that has been torn like this?
Should I apply varnish, examine the back of the print, seal the bug holes, replace the frame first, or re-glue it… … .
The road was not visible.
The intense fatigue just came crashing down on me like waves.
I stood up.
Thinking that I can't lie here forever...

Publisher's Review
Love each other like your own selves
Two men and women stuck in the past
Everyone has someone they can never forget, someone they cannot forget.
There are also people who want to go back.
They say time heals all wounds, but some past memories don't dull with time, but rather become sharper and sting us.
Aoi and Junsei, the two of them are like that to each other.
Aoi and Junsei, both of Korean descent, met at a university in Tokyo and became lovers.
Although they were Japanese, neither of them had ever lived in Japan before and had nowhere to go or anyone to rely on in Tokyo, so they were each other's roots and supports.
That's why the time the two of them were together must have been lonely and alone, but also the happiest time because they only had each other.
Eight years have passed since we broke up.
Aoi has a devoted boyfriend who accepts her without her having to say anything, and Junsei has a new girlfriend who is passionate and doesn't hide her love for him.
However, the two cannot love their new lover as if he were their own clone like they did in the past.
Even though they love the person next to them, the man and woman cannot overcome the longing that remains like a dot in their hearts, and they think of him whenever it rains.
Each other, and the promises we made in passing.
The two stories that had been running parallel to each other come together at this point as the promise to meet at the Duomo in Florence in ten years approaches.
Eight years after breaking up, the man and woman still can't forget each other, and as the promised date approaches, they put everything aside and run to Florence.
After two lives intersect, will they go their separate ways again or will they continue on the same path?
The unpredictable lives of two people reveal another intersection and possibility only at the end.
One of the joys of reading a novel is observing what choices the two people make and what kind of composure and passion lead them to those choices.
It's good to read just one volume of 'Rosso' or 'Blu', but it's even better to read both volumes in a row or alternately read them chapter by chapter in the order they were published.
Each time, this story evokes different emotions.
A book that says that any love is one person's share of this person's work.
A book that depicts the happiness that love gives and the shadow it casts in proportion to it.
Between coolness and passion.
