It's okay, it's our first time!
Description
Book Introduction
To all those in the world who are afraid of the first day
Warm words of comfort and empathy!

"It's Okay, It's Our First Time!" is a picture book that depicts the process of overcoming the new experience of "entry into school" from the perspectives of Doyoon, a prospective elementary school student about to enter school, Doyoon's mother, and a first-year homeroom teacher taking charge of first-grade students for the first time.
This process helps us understand each other's feelings and empathize with each other.

Elementary school is where children begin their ‘social life’ in earnest.
After living freely as you wish, you are faced with strict rules and regulations for the first time and have to live together with many people.
This process is very stressful for children.
So, they vaguely think of school as a scary place and refuse to go to school.
"It's Okay, It's Our First Time!" begins with the story of Doyoon, who is about to enter elementary school.
Doyoon's fear of meeting new friends and learning new things at school is greater than his excitement.
As we follow Doyoon, who used to worry about getting lost in a huge and complex building or meeting a teacher as scary as a tiger, as he adapts to school and finds it a fun and enjoyable place, we can eliminate the prejudices that children often have about school.

Publisher's Review
Author Lee Ju-hee, who wrote and illustrated this book, says that the vague fear children feel before entering elementary school is not something only children feel.
Parents with children about to enter school feel the same way.
In fact, one survey found that 95% of working moms considered quitting their jobs when their children were about to enter elementary school.
This period is so daunting for mom that she even considers quitting her job.
Would it be any different for teachers? First-year homeroom teachers have their own concerns, too.
Since the experiences you have in your first year of school can influence the rest of your school life, the responsibility is greater than when you are in charge of other grades.

"It's Okay, It's Our First Time!" presents a three-dimensional look at the single topic of "entrance" and "school life" from the perspectives of children, parents, and teachers.
We are talking realistically about what each of us is worried about and what we are afraid of.
So, by reading a book, you can understand each other's feelings, empathize with each other, and find comfort.
Additionally, the author's unique imaginative and lively illustrations add to the enjoyment of the book.
In particular, the scene where the tiger tail attached to the teacher disappears as the children adapt to school during the period when the children are afraid of the teacher shows the children growing up bravely as members of the school community.
The four-panel scene depicting children becoming accustomed to school life as the seasons change clearly displays the author's unique sensibility.
The cover contains a title encouraging children to hang a placard at the school gate during the entrance ceremony.
Wouldn't the hearts of children and their parents be much lighter if elementary schools in Korea actually displayed messages of encouragement like this, rather than just a formal placard that reads, "Congratulations on your new school year?"

Finally, the appendix, which explains the school supplies and class schedule, gives children a sneak peek into school life and builds their confidence in school life.

School is a place where children grow.
Please give words of encouragement to children who are stepping foot into school for the first time so that they can adapt well without prejudice.
I also hope that parents who are sending their children to school and teachers who are meeting first graders for the first time will receive warm comfort.
