By 2025, a total of 49 elementary, middle, and high schools were closed.

This year alone, six schools in Seoul are in the process of closing.


"When School Disappears" started from the author's memories of an actual school closure.
The author says he understands the loss, anxiety, and fear felt by children who have lost their schools, and he wanted to offer quiet courage and small encouragement to those who have the power of memories that remain even in the midst of disappearance and to those who have the heart to move toward a new beginning.
