Lime Mom's Fail-Proof Baby-Led Weaning & Toddler Food
Description
Book Introduction
A completely revised edition of the Lime Mom baby food book loved by 50,000 readers has been published!
Children become smarter by eating and exploring on their own.
Everything about child-led feeding!

Published in August 2019, "Lime Mom's Fail-Proof Baby-Led Weaning & Toddler Food," which became a hit among mothers and sold 50,000 copies in about a year and a half, has returned with a completely revised edition.
The first edition included a whopping 413 baby food and toddler food menus, and there was a rumor among mothers that "This is the only recipe book for children's meals, from 6-month-old baby food to 7-year-old food!" This completely revised edition has added more menus.
A whopping 591 recipes! Lime Mom meticulously reviewed existing readers' reviews and Instagram DMs, and was able to gather insights into the common concerns of Korean parents.
This was fully reflected in the menu, and a large number of 'rice'-based menu items were added.
We also strengthened the 'baking' snack, which is a snack that must be bought and eaten.
This is a baking recipe for children that was perfected after repeated failures to completely eliminate or drastically reduce ingredients that can be worrisome in bread or cookies, such as milk, eggs, butter, and sugar, while still maintaining a moist and soft flavor.
We also included kimchi that is surprisingly easy to make, such as kkakdugi and baek kimchi.
From finger foods, the first food, to soups, side dishes, and one-bowl meals, the menu has been comprehensively strengthened, and previously unpopular menu items have been boldly deleted, creating a completely new recipe book.

Publisher's Review
It is also noteworthy that the theory part has been strengthened.
To provide clear answers to parents' common questions, the author searched and searched for the latest medical data from overseas, and finally discovered the most reliable sources. Based on this, the author conducted extensive research and finally found the answers that are essential for Korean parents.
The introduction, which is almost the length of a book, explains what baby-led weaning is, why it is done, the basic principles for successfully leading it, when to start and what foods to offer, and what to pay attention to for safe weaning.
Food allergies are a particularly confusing topic for mothers, but with the help of family medicine specialist Jo Ae-kyung, the book provides a clearer answer.

Additionally, the gift of this revised edition is the '100-day note'.
When moving from baby food to toddler food, mothers once again experience a mental breakdown when faced with the concept of 'diet'.
It takes a lot of practice to prepare a diet that has a balanced nutrition while also having the right blend of flavors.
Of course, it is bound to be difficult at first.
However, Lime Mom's know-how is that if you write down your daily meal plan, you will naturally have a three-day meal plan in your head without even having to write it down.
So, with the intention of encouraging you to write a diet notebook for exactly 100 days, we provide a 100-day notebook as an ‘appendix to the book.’
Since the notes are given to all readers, there is no need to buy the book or notes separately.
This is a passage that shows how well Lime Mom understands mothers' hearts and how much interest she puts into providing healthy and happy meals for our children.
Thanks to the wind of Lime Mom filling it up like this, the volume of the book has increased significantly to 668 pages.
The term 'completely revised' edition is perfectly fitting.

“A child who eats well is perfect from 6 months!”

From the first baby food at 6 months to baby food at 7 years old,
591 kid-friendly recipes from popular Instagrammer Lime Mom

▶ Trust your child's initiative when choosing their first food.
Baby Led Weaning (BLW) literally means that the child takes the lead in eating solid food, and is also simply called BLW or self-feeding.
If the mother-led feeding method is called spoon feeding, then child-led weaning is when the child decides what to eat, how much to eat, and how to eat.
Parents simply serve as facilitators to help children eat a variety of foods, ensure they eat safely, and make mealtimes enjoyable.
When the author of this book, Lime Mom Ok Hanna, was making Lime's first baby food, information about baby-led weaning in Korea was limited, so she had no choice but to refer to various foreign books, Google, YouTube, and foreign Instagram accounts.
I was worried inside, thinking, 'Will it get stuck in my throat and cause trouble?', 'Will I be able to get the nutrients I need?', but seeing foreign babies as young as Lime happily eating boiled broccoli on their own gave me confidence.
My child did not eat well the entire time I was feeding him.
Even though he was eating happily, he sometimes refused to eat, threw it away, and one day he would get it all over his face and just play with the texture until he finished eating.
There were countless days when I cried while washing the child and cleaning up, and days when I wanted to give up.
However, the most important thing in child-led weaning is the parents' attitude.
Parents' faith and waiting.
The key was to have faith that the child would do well on his own, to wait for him to grow at his own pace, and to consistently support him with a calm and composed attitude, without being swayed by emotions.

▶ Make your child healthy, smart, and happy
So why do we practice child-led weaning? This perspective views "child initiative" as a crucial instinct in development.
Just as a child rolls over, crawls, stands, and walks on his own, eating is also considered a natural developmental process that a child can develop 'instinctively' on his own.
In other words, the most important characteristic is that parents do not deprive children of the opportunity to do things on their own during the meal process, but rather provide sufficient opportunities and time for children to take the initiative and come into contact with, experience, and explore food (new things).

For a child, 'eating' is not simply the act of putting food in the mouth and swallowing it; it requires a high level of skill.
After many attempts, children find the 'right fit' that works for them.
At first, it is not easy to pick up food with your hands, and it is not easy to put as much as you want into your mouth.
The child must decide and judge what food to pick up, how to pick it up, how much to put in the mouth, how to move the tongue, how to swallow, and how much to chew.
Because you have to breathe while chewing and swallowing food, you learn to eat in a way that is both safe and as easy as possible.
Through this practice process, the child gradually develops the skills of eating foods of various shapes and textures, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills.
Also, through child-led weaning, children gain a variety of positive influences as they participate in family meals, feel a sense of belonging, feel satisfaction from eating on their own, gain confidence through challenges, and explore and become familiar with food with their five senses.

▶ Listen to Lime, who eats well and is happy eating.
Since April 2017, Lime's mom, Ok Hanna, has been sharing the entire process of her daughter Lime's baby-led weaning and toddler food with her followers every single day through Instagram (@blwlime).
Now that Lime is 55 months old, she is considered a self-proclaimed expert in baby-led feeding, but in reality, her first experience of solid food was no different from that of other mothers.
After reading foreign books, I was able to understand the theory (concept) to some extent, but the problem was that it was difficult to find a diet that was exactly suitable for the situation in Korea.

I developed the menu myself, reflecting on the basic principles, and fed it to Lime one by one.
Fortunately, Lime Mom had learned cooking professionally in Italy and Brazil, and had learned the basics of cooking from her mother (Cooking Angel), a power blogger in the cooking field.
Whenever I got into trouble, I would ask my mother for recipes and make a child-led meal just for Lime.
Then, thinking, 'Wouldn't other moms be struggling like me?', I generously shared my recipes on Instagram, and popular menus were born that tens of thousands of moms 'saved' and 'liked'.
Lime, now 55 months old, knows how to appreciate the true flavor of food, whether it's meat or vegetables, knows how to eat skillfully on her own without anyone's help, and more than anything, knows how much of a happy part of everyday life mealtimes are.
And Lime's happy mealtime soon led to happiness for the whole family.
Just seeing a child cook and eat their own meal deliciously makes parents' meals more relaxed and happier.

▶ I make my child's meal.
Baby-led weaning is characterized by not distinguishing between ‘this food is baby food’ and ‘this food is toddler food.’
It is convenient to think of baby food as adult food with less seasoning and less stimulation, and baby food as unseasoned food.
Any food that a child can easily hold with their hands or eat with a utensil can be tried regardless of their age.
So, this book divides the recipes by dish, not by month or age.
The book lists the number of months for each recipe, but this is not based on ingredients, but on the level of fine motor development.
Since each child develops at a different rate, parents can adjust feeding times at their discretion.

For example, if a recipe calls for adding salt to a chicken dish labeled "from 8 months," it means, "From 8 months, your baby will be able to try this dish."
If you haven't seasoned it yet since it's 8 months old, you can follow the recipe but omit the salt. If you're just seasoning it a little after it's been a month, you can cook it according to the recipe.
Of course, if your child is over 12 months old and still doesn't season food, you can cook it without seasoning.
From here on, parental autonomy is strictly required.

If your child eats meat well without salt, you don't need to add salt even as he or she enters infancy.
However, if your child is reluctant to eat broccoli, the trick is to make the broccoli dish taste good by seasoning it appropriately.
The key is to expose children to a variety of foods and dishes from a young age! Lime, for example, still enjoys the same (and more like baby food) baby food she enjoyed as a child. Now, at age six, she's still enjoying it.

Ultimately, the choice is yours.
Through this recipe book, you should fully understand the concepts, principles, and basic recipes of baby-led weaning and infant food, and then complete a recipe book that is suitable for your child, not Lime.
Lime Mom did it, any parent can do it!

▶ Meet the revised edition, featuring 519 menus, solid theory, and even a 100-day notebook.
First published in the summer of 2019, [Lime Mom's Fail-Proof Baby-Led Weaning & Toddler Food] has received rave reviews from mothers and has become the bible of baby food and infant food.
This completely revised edition has the following three features:

First of all, the number of menu items has increased tremendously.
Originally 413 was not a small number, but it has increased to a whopping 591.
Rather than simply adding similar menus, we reflected each and every additional request from parents in reader reviews and Instagram DMs.
For new moms who are quite confused about what to eat for the first time, we have added a lot of finger foods.
Considering the hearts of Korean parents who insist on feeding their children rice no matter what, we have developed and published new and unique menus where rice is the main ingredient.
For mothers who were disappointed by the amount of kimchi they ordered, which was only about the size of a fist, we also included a simple yet delicious kimchi menu.
Above all, this revised edition focuses on baking, including muffins, cakes, and pancakes.
Since it was for children, after many trials, I perfected the recipe by reducing butter, eggs, sugar, and salt as much as possible.
We took great pains to make it less oily, less sweet, and less salty.
Vegetables were also hidden here and there.
Of course, we didn't give up on taste either.
The results of Lime Mom's countless failures and tireless efforts over the past year are contained in this baking section.
So you don't have to buy separate books on baby food, toddler food, and snacks.

Additionally, I searched and searched for the latest international literature to provide a clear answer on food allergies.
The theoretical part, written by Lime Mom herself based on several credible medical sources, was personally reviewed by family medicine specialist Jo Ae-kyung.
Dr. Cho Ae-kyung is a specialist who has contributed numerous health columns to newspapers and magazines and has gained public recognition by appearing as an expert panelist on various information programs such as MBC's [Basic Good Day], SBS's [Good Morning], and TV Chosun's [My Body User Manual].
In particular, it contains the answer to the question that parents are most curious about: 'milk allergy'.
Finally, let's pay attention to the 'gift' of the revised edition.
It is the '100-day note'.
When you move from baby food to toddler food, you enter a 'diet war'. Planning a meal may seem very difficult, but once you start, it's easier than you think and even secretly fun.
If you follow Lime Mom's guide in the 100-day notebook included in the book for exactly 100 days, both the child and the parent will be able to establish a pattern and create a stable diet.
