Published in January 2013, 『The Real Basic Cookbook』 introduced 320 basic dishes that are often served on the dinner table in detail, from ingredient preparation to heat and cooking time, as if it were a mathematical formula. It became an instant bestseller and was nicknamed “Jin-gi-yo” and “the nation’s cookbook,” establishing itself as Korea’s representative home cooking guide.
This edition of 『The Real Basic Cookbook: Applications』 was also planned in response to the requests of many readers who have cherished 『The Real Basic Cookbook』.
As families take online classes at home or work from home more often, there was an opinion that a variety of menus were needed as home-cooked meals were prepared more frequently.
So, rather than showing unfamiliar menus, we decided to publish an application that introduces colorful variations of everyday home-cooked meals.
First, we recruited a reader planning team and researched the basic home-cooked meals that people eat most often these days.
Based on the home-cooked meal items selected in this way, we developed and verified various application recipes for each item by referring to over 130 cookbook magazines such as 『Super Recipe』.
Through a variety of rearrangements and variations of ingredients, seasonings, and cooking methods, we created familiar yet new home-cooked dishes one by one.
This edition of 『Real Basic Cookbook: Application Edition』 was created by Test Cook Jeongmin, who oversaw the menus for 『Real Basic Cookbook』 and 『Super Recipe』.
As a housewife and cooking expert who prepares her husband's lunchbox and her two children's home-cooked meals every day, she has developed a wealth of practical yet differentiated recipes that are 'just what a real housewife needs.'
