Dragon Hero 1
Dragon Hero 1
Description
Book Introduction
Author Jae-moon Lee, who has been loved by many readers for his deeply moving works such as “Monster Child” and “My Guardian,” presents his first full-length series.
This is a Korean fantasy film called 'Dragon Hero' that depicts the martial arts world inhabited by mythical 'dragons'.
The author, who has always been interested in Korean mythology, brought in the five dragons of the Five Elements theory, Korean goblins, and various Eastern martial arts into the book to create a new fantasy that had never been seen before.
The protagonist and a dragon glide through a fantasy world reimagined with a modern sensibility, overcoming the ominous fate imposed on them.
Here, artist Kim Ji-in, who collaborated with artist Lee Jae-moon on 『Monster Child』, took charge of the illustrations, adding a sentimental and sensual atmosphere to the story.

Yeoul is drawn into the world of martial arts by the voice of the black dragon.
The black dragon's name is Mir.
The martial arts world is a place where beings with internal energy form schools and fight for power, and there are five dragons in the martial arts world.
Meanwhile, an ominous legend is floating around that if the black dragon and his 'dragonmen' meet, the world will be destroyed...
Yongin is a being that connects dragons and humans, allowing humans to use the power of dragons.
When it is revealed that Yeoul is the Black Dragon's vassal, everyone tries to separate Yeoul and Mir.
Yeoul refuses.
"You want me to sacrifice myself for the world? No!" Yeoul sets out to find a way to keep the world from ending, even if she's with Mir.

Into the book
“What is your name?”
“Me? Eunyeoul.”
The name came out of Yeoul's mouth without warning.
“Eunyeoul? Remember my name.”
The kid seemed to be doing something very kind.
Yeoul glared at the child and replied.
“If you ask for someone’s name, it’s polite to tell them your own name!”
“My name?”
The child furrowed his brow for a moment, then quickly raised one corner of his mouth.
“I remembered.
I am Mir.
“Yes, my name is definitely Mir.”

If it was destined to destroy the world, I wanted to break that fate.
If no one would help, the country would want to protect itself.
No, come to think of it, Yeoul isn't alone.
Isn't there Mir?
Yeoul looked at Mir and continued speaking in a trembling voice.
“I will live, and Mir will be by my side.”
--- p.170

Yeoul clenched her fists and looked down.
A giant salt demon was baring its teeth at Yeouli.
Yeoul fell vertically.
Faster than anything in the world, without hesitation! I gradually got closer to the salt demon.
The dog barked fiercely and swung its front paws at Yeoul.

Publisher's Review
Lee Jae-moon's new K-fantasy series
Five dragons rise and the Dragon Hero awakens!

Author Jae-moon Lee, winner of the Four Seasons Literary Award and the Jaum and Moeum Youth Literature Award, presents a new fantasy series, "Dragon Hero," which reinterprets Korean mythology with a modern sensibility.
The boring dragon is gone and the weight-bearing martial arts are gone.
A new concept of K-fantasy that crosses the genres of fantasy, Korean mythology, and Oriental martial arts with flexible imagination.
In particular, in the scene where Yeouli, who has acquired the power of a dragon, fights against a giant burning salt demon, all kinds of genre-specific fun come together to give readers an explosive sense of freedom.

Additionally, the Dragon Hero series has a rich story and the author's warm and serious worldview unfolds more deeply and broadly.
The author's signature lively protagonist also runs and plays more actively in the expanded world.
Moreover, illustrator Kim Ji-in, who previously collaborated with author Lee Jae-moon on "Monster Child," has joined the team again, bringing the protagonist, dragon, and K-Martial Arts world to life with a sensitive and sensuous touch.

“They say it breaks fate.
Come with me.
“We can do it.”
Yeoul and the Black Dragon Fight Against an Ominous Fate

There is something different about Yeouli from other children.
One, your parents don't love you.
Two, I have no memories of anything before elementary school.
Third, you can breathe underwater.
Yeoul, who felt alienated and lonely because she was different from other people, is one day led into the world of martial arts by the voice of a black dragon.
The black dragon also says that he has no memory of his past except for his name, 'Mir'...
Meanwhile, a group called Heukmudan is trying to kidnap Yeoul and Mir.
It seems that in the martial arts world there is a key that can unlock the secret of Yeoul and Mir.

Yeoul and Mir gradually learn about the martial arts world by avoiding the Black Knights, befriending the prince of the martial arts world, and watching the battles between five unique sects.
Then, he hears a legend floating around the martial arts world.
“When the black dragon meets his dragon servant, the world will end.” Soon after, it is revealed that Yeoul is the dragon servant of the black dragon (dragon hero), and people try to separate Yeoul and Mir for the sake of the world.
Moreover, it may destroy Mir again, just like in his previous life.
“No!” Yeoul rejects the ominous legend.
“I will live, and Mir will be by my side.” Will Yeoul be able to open a new path to life by facing fate?

“No matter what happens, I will survive.”
A project to overcome fate unfolds with Yeouli and the black dragon Mir!

In the previous life, and even in that life, the world separated Yeoul and Mir because it was ominous.
The black dragon has never destroyed the world, so why do ominous legends persist? Could it be because of the prejudice that black dragons are more sinister and violent than other dragons? In fact, not only Yeoul and Mir, but everyone, including the reader, has their own unique characteristics.
Is it bad to be different? "No." Yeoul rejects the world's gaze that views her as unlucky.

“There’s nothing wrong with living my own way, right?” Yeoul and Mir, who were hurt by prejudice, decided to acknowledge their differences and break the world’s prejudice.
Let's continue to follow the story of Yeoul and Mir, who run "faster than anything in the world, without hesitation!" while breaking down the past and the world's prejudices that had been shrunk.
Readers will feel a heightened sense of self-esteem alongside Yeoul and Mir.
