Author's Note

Into the book
As soon as he got off the mountain train to the top of Jungfrau, Lee Ho ran across the pure white snow field, cheering.
Eunsil tapped her front paw with her eyes as if she was amazed at seeing them for the first time in her life, then looked up at me and meowed.
"Why? Are you asking me to hug you? Eun-sil, your feet are cold."
It was warm to hold the silver-gray furred Eunsil tightly in my arms.
It was my first time seeing snow in real life too.
I'm already excited because I think that Christmas, which is coming tomorrow, will be the white Christmas that I've only heard about.
The large, colorful tree installed in front of the observatory was particularly sparkling.

Eun-sil, lowering her posture, groaned at a small rock a few steps away.
“What’s wrong? What’s over there?”
Eun-sil, looking nervous, approached the rock without saying anything.
I also held my breath and followed Eunsil stealthily.
Behind the rock, a small, light brown ball of cotton wiggled.
When Eunsil stretched out her front paw and touched it, the cotton ball jumped up.
It was, unexpectedly, a living animal.
It had a long body like a weasel, short legs, and a long, thick tail.
It had a strange appearance, half cat and half dog.
It was an animal I had never seen before, but it looked like a baby, being only the size of two fists.

“You, who are you? Where on earth did you come from…?”
No, how do we look?”
Only then did the girl let out a soft scream as she noticed me.
"Oh my goodness, you're from the past? Oh, but how did Mia's button work? That button only responds to people who've been in a time machine..."
“A time machine? You… are you from the future?”
--- p.16~17

Suddenly, the world before my eyes began to swirl like a haze.
The swaying grew more intense, and a thin gap appeared in the air.
My mouth fell open at the unbelievable sight.
A deep darkness was visible through the gap that was widening.
It felt like the hairs on the back of my neck were standing on end.
Then something suddenly popped out of the darkness.

--- p.19

It was I who rode a time machine and changed my mother's unfortunate past.
It was a happiness I had worked so hard to find, so I couldn't just let it disappear.
In order to protect my mother, I had to come to my senses from now on.

--- p.23

“They say that thirty-three hours is the maximum amount of time you can endure.
As we saw earlier, if we step forward ourselves, space-time will become even more distorted.
“Excuse me, but could you please take Mia to me before that?”
It seemed to refer to the time when Annie was trying to exit the time tunnel, the air split open and the ground shook violently.
He said that since he couldn't take Mia himself, he wanted her taken to Mirae Park.

--- p.25

Lee Ho stopped, pointed to the mountain peak, and shouted in surprise.
“Seorim, look over there.
“The ice cream is disappearing!”
I turned my head and couldn't help but gape.
The white snow that had been covering the mountaintop like soft ice cream until just a moment ago was slowly melting away.
My legs began to tremble with an ominous feeling.

--- p.27

Lee Ho shouted, holding out his wrist.
“Look at this.
“The color of the carbon bands has turned red.”
It really was.
The display on the carbon band had turned red, indicating 'danger'.
Eunsil kept groaning as she watched the backs of the two people.

--- p.35

The thought made my hair stand on end.
Looking back, I saw a man half-leaning out from the back of a moving train.
He seemed to be looking around for us, his head turning here and there.
Next to him, a blonde woman was seen trying to stop the man.
The train was already moving away at a tremendous speed.
The moment he thought he couldn't chase anymore, the man threw himself from the moving train.
Then he got up and ran quickly along the tracks to the platform.

--- p.42~43

I wanted to somehow evacuate my mother, but I couldn't even contact her, and my heart sank.
Moreover, that sinkhole is clearly an abnormal symptom caused by the distortion of space and time.
I was more worried about the future, since something like this was already happening even though there was still time left.
'There is only one way left now.
We need to get Mia to Future Park as soon as possible.'
--- p.93

Yesterday, the ice cap of Mount Jungfrau melted and heavy rain poured down in Hungary.
Looking out the window, I saw that the train had already left the city.
There were dry trees with only branches left and cracked yellow earth spread out.
Next to it, the river, almost bare, looked like a stream.
There was not a single trace of winter left.

--- p.131

“I have a question.
There's someone after Mia.
Last time I said there were traces of illegal time travel.
“Could it be that person?”
--- p.133

The man passed Riho and trudged towards me, who was shivering in the hallway.
Contrary to my thoughts that I should run away, my feet did not move.
But there was one strange thing.
The face of the man who had just gotten out of the car with difficulty was so smooth.
Yesterday, Eun-sil scratched her forehead on the mountain train, but there was not a single scratch on her face.
“I found it, Lee Seo-rim.”
--- p.155

I looked around at the people left in the room and shouted.
"Does anyone have any water? If I have water, I can open that door."
Please help me.
I need to go back to Korea quickly and save my mom.
Only I can do that.
please……."
--- p.164

“That’s… just a temporary side effect.
He said that small sacrifices are inevitable for great success.”
That's what the director always said.
"What on earth is big and what is small? Is there anything in this world worth sacrificing?"
--- p.212

Publisher's Review
The fourth installment in the bestselling SF environmental fairy tale series, "Time Cat."
A tense adventure unfolds to save a world covered in water and fire!

During winter break, Seorim heads to Switzerland with her father, an environmental scientist, along with Eunsil, the world's last cat.
Seorim is enjoying the joy of regaining the white snow and winter scenery that had disappeared due to extreme warming.
While dreaming of a white Christmas and enjoying the beautiful scenery of Jungfrau Mountain, which resembles a snowy kingdom, Seorim and Eunsil discover 'Mia', the pet of a future traveler who lost his family at the top of Jungfrau Mountain.
The image of 2085 depicted in this work is very interesting.
There is technology to revive extinct animals and raise them as pets, and the existence of a hyperloop train that allows you to freely travel between the future and the past, and travel from Europe to Seoul in just six hours, is also attracting attention.
However, the Time Cat series does not focus entirely on the landscape of an advanced future.
In this age of rapid technological change, we encourage our young readers to imagine the near future while also paying close attention to the environmental issues that ensue, like a double-edged sword.
The disaster scene of 2085 depicted in "Time Cat 4: The Water and Fire Train" vividly makes readers realize that environmental problems are not something that will happen in the distant future, but something that could happen in the world we live in now.

A passionate courage to take risks, a warm heart that loves the world
“This time, let’s go save Mom and the world!”

Seorim, who learned that if she fails to return Mia to Korea by tomorrow, not only her mother but also the Earth will be in danger, heads to Korea to bring Mia back.
A suspicious man with an expressionless face and incredible strength appears in front of Seorim, who is boarding the Hyperloop train heading to Seoul.
Who is the fearsome man who, following Seorim and Eunsil, now targets Mia? Seorim and Eunsil, the protagonists of the "Time Cat" series, embark on a passionate adventure, sometimes risking danger and sometimes overcoming crises.
The adventures of these warm-hearted and courageous people, who seek to save their beloved family and the world, will inspire readers with unwavering courage and a never-say-die spirit.
Readers of this book will feel the courage to overcome fear and move forward into the future, as well as a heart for those close to them and a warm perspective on the world.

The "Time Cat" series has portrayed unique characters over the years.
In this work, new characters appear, such as Mr. Alex, a Korean-American auto mechanic, Ms. Lina, an environmental scientist, and a mysterious man with super strength in a hat, adding to the fun.
What kind of adventure awaits Seorim and Eunsil this time, with their unique characters?
