A set of picture books about social situations for a fun school life
Description
Book Introduction
What is school like for children entering elementary school and living in a group for the first time?

For children, elementary school is a place where they experience and do many things for the first time.
The desks and chairs in the classroom that we use every day, the bathroom, and even the cafeteria and trays where we eat are all things we see for the first time.
Anyone who encounters a situation they have never experienced before feels anxious.
Elementary school can be an unfamiliar environment for children, making them feel anxious.
However, if you muster up the courage to take on challenges one by one and adapt to school life, you will be able to continue enjoying your school life.

This book is written in the form of a social situation picture book so that children can predict and practice school life in advance.
We created this with the hope that children will view school not as an uneasy place, but as a place where they can have the courage to challenge themselves with various activities and become familiar with them, making it a fun place.
This book consists of six stories and an appendix.
This is a story about Hoon and his classmates from the picture book, “Social Situation Stories for Elementary School Entrance Preparation.”
The scenes from the story are depicted in warm illustrations so that even children who are not good at reading can easily understand the story.

Volume 1, "Hello!", depicts the shy Minji greeting her friends and teachers at school, allowing her to naturally learn greetings and practice expressing her happiness.
Volume 2, "Going to the Bathroom," is the story of Hoon, who has just started elementary school, and how he adapts to the unfamiliar school bathroom.
Volume 3, “Let’s Eat Well!”, contains the process of preparing meals at school.
By looking at picture books, we were able to experience the meal process in advance, allowing students to comfortably participate in meal times.
Volume 4, "One Line, One Train! Two! Three!", shows the situation of lining up at school.
You can naturally become familiar with lining up by reading about situations where you are lining up in front of a classroom or in a hallway and waiting for others.
Volume 5, "Let's Play Together," contains scenes of Hoon and his friends playing in the classroom, and Volume 6, "I am a Brave Child," contains the contents of Volumes 1-5, as well as Hoon and Minji mustering up their courage and enjoying school life.

To help children find the courage to prepare for a fun school life through the story of Hoon and Minji, we have included an appendix with activities such as greeting cards, how to use the girls' restroom, making your own lunch plate, role-playing using paper dolls, and a checklist and award for courageous children.
Additionally, at the end of each story, we include various ways to use the book so that teachers and parents who guide students with developmental disabilities can read together and understand and support their students' behavior.
I hope that through this picture book, more children, like Hoon, Minji, and the other children in Class 3, Grade 1, will find the courage to enjoy school.

Publisher's Review
This book is a story about social situations written by a teacher who worked in a special education class at an elementary school for over 20 years.
Social situation narratives are short stories that can help us interpret and understand social situations.

Children with developmental disabilities face a new environment when they enter elementary school.
Even when going to the bathroom or eating, they have to adapt to an environment that is different from home or kindergarten.
You may feel anxious in unfamiliar environments.

It is necessary to predict what will happen next so that children do not feel anxious.
When you don't know what's going to happen, you feel nervous and anxious, but once you have some sense of predictability, you can shake off that anxiety and focus on your school life.

This book was created with the hope that children will enjoy attending school by anticipating and practicing school life through picture books.
I hope that by reading the social situation story several times and becoming familiar with school life, more children will be able to enjoy school life.
