“January 25, 1847.
…I told the Lord again this morning, without fail, all the things I had often brought up to Him.
It has now been 14 months and 3 weeks since I began praying to God every day for this construction project.
I ended my morning prayer with great confidence that God was not only able but also determined to provide the necessary finances for the building, and that He would do so without delay.
Up until now, I have never doubted that my every need would be answered.
So, I hope that my dear readers will rejoice with me and praise God.
Less than an hour after the prayers were finished, a total of £2,000 had been donated for the building.
The total amount of building funds raised in this way was 9,285 pounds 3 shillings 9.5p.
There is no way to describe the joy I felt in God when I received this donation.
You have to experience it to realize it.
I had to rely on God every single day for 447 days until I secured the amount mentioned above.

From "Orphanages Built in Ashley Downs"

“July 25, 1865.
The following letter arrived from a London suburb, along with £100.
'Dear brother, I believe it was the Lord's will for me to enclose a cheque for £100 through the Western Branch of the Bank of England.
I hope your ministry prospers.
In the Lord, I am grateful.' This Christian gentleman, who has a large business in London, though I have never met him personally, has sent me similar sums on three or four occasions before.
A day or two before this kind donation arrived, I prayed that the Lord would move this sponsor's heart to give again.
It was the first time I had prayed in this way about it.
So, not only did I receive the donation, but I also had him donate, which doubled the answer to my prayers.
You will now understand what the sponsor meant in his letter:
“I believe it was the Lord who directed me to enclose the check with you.” It was clearly the Lord who had caused this gentleman to send me the amount.”
