Mr. Yong's Korean History Comics 8
Description
Book Introduction
『Yongseonsaeng Comics Korean History 8』 covers the outbreak of the Imjin War and the post-war recovery efforts, the subsequent Byeongja War and the humiliating surrender, King Hyojong's northern expedition to avenge it, and King Sukjong's return to the country.
Jang Ha-da and Wang Su-jae, who became students at Dosan Seodang, met Toegye Yi Hwang and Yulgok Yi I, two leading figures in Joseon Neo-Confucianism.
When Toyotomi Hideyoshi unified Japan and started the Imjin War, the history class children fought to protect Joseon along with Yi Sun-sin, Kwak Jae-u, Kim Si-min, and Kwon Yul.
After the seven-year war, efforts were made to restore the country after the war, including the implementation of the Daedong Law, but Joseon was once again engulfed in war due to the Injo Restoration and the subsequent Byeongja Horan.
Will Joseon be able to escape this crisis?

A noisy and exciting adventure for Mr. Yong and the history class as they travel through time!

The content is rich and detailed, as it was created by Korean history experts, and the main characters jump directly into history and play active roles, so children can immerse themselves in the story with interest.
Supervisor: Professor Kwon Oh-young (Department of Korean History, Seoul National University)
These days, with Korean history education being emphasized starting from elementary school, parents of elementary school children are extremely concerned.
What book should I start studying Korean history with? Can I use a comic book as an introduction to Korean history? Is the book written by a trustworthy expert? Will my child throw the book away because it is boring?
To solve these problems, Mr. Yong has stepped forward! The undisputed #1 elementary Korean history textbook! Following the completely revised edition of "Mr. Yong's Bustling Korean History," chosen by over a million readers, a Korean history educational comic book, "Mr. Yong's Comic Korean History," has been published.
『Mr. Yong's Korean History Comics』 is an exciting story in which the characters of 『Mr. Yong's Bustling Korean History』 travel back in time and participate in various historical events.
Children travel back in time on a magic timeline and meet historical figures such as King Gwanggaeto the Great, King Taejo of Joseon, Yi Seong-gye, and Admiral Yi Sun-sin.
And as we get involved in various incidents and resolve them, we naturally learn about our history in the process.
This is the perfect book for children who are not yet familiar with Korean text or who like comics and want to learn about Korean history in an interesting way.
Fully aligned with the latest elementary school social studies textbooks from 2016-2017!
『Mr. Yong's Korean History in Comics』 faithfully reflects the contents and materials of the revised textbook.
The newly added topics in the revised textbook, such as ‘The origin of the names of the eight provinces of Joseon’ and ‘The structure of Hanyang’, were explained in detail with photos.
And to help you efficiently acquire this rich learning information, we have created various learning information corners.
The main content of the textbook is incorporated into the story so that it can be understood just by looking at the cartoon, and narration is provided.
Topics that require more detailed explanation are supplemented by creating an information box right next to them.
At the end of each episode, we have included a key overview of the textbook to help you recap the content, and we have carefully written down the relevant textbook chapters to ensure consistency with the curriculum.
In addition, Mr. Yong's history classroom also conveys stories outside of the textbook in an easy and fun way.
An exciting story unfolding as the main characters participate in historical events!
In 『Mr. Yong's Korean History Comics』, Mr. Yong's characters travel back in time on a magical timeline and explore every corner of our history from the Paleolithic Age to the modern era.
Existing Korean history learning comics often had the same time travel concept, but the main characters often only revolved around the characters and events.
However, the narrative development of "Mr. Yong's Korean History in Comics" is completely different! "Mr. Yong's Korean History in Comics" creates a new, independent episode for each chapter.
In this exciting, newly created story, the main characters become friends with real historical figures and even participate directly in historical events.
Jang Ha-da becomes a bodyguard of King Yi Seong-gye and helps in the Wihwado Rebellion, and the children of the history class struggle to prevent Prince Suyang from harming King Danjong.
In this way, the interesting story and learning content experienced by the main characters are exquisitely combined, so young readers can enjoy reading the book from beginning to end, immersing themselves in it as if they were the main characters.
Written and edited by history experts!
When it comes to educational comics, especially books about our history for children, the importance of the author goes without saying.
However, most of the existing Korean history learning comics were written by comic story writers who did not major in Korean history.
But the writers of "Mr. Yong's Korean History in Comics" are different! The researchers at the Social Criticism and History Research Institute (hereafter, the Social Criticism and History Research Institute) are experts who have studied Korean history at university and taught it in schools for at least ten years.
In order to convey accurate historical facts to children, we studied not only textbooks but also primary sources such as the Samguk Sagi, Goryeosa, and the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty to verify the facts.
The manuscript written in this way was once again carefully reviewed by professors from authoritative universities.
With the participation of such a team of writers with expertise and popular writing skills, we were able to successfully kill two birds with one stone: an easy and fun story and solid learning content.
Vivid, high-quality illustrations that make you feel like you're at a historical site!
Comics have a greater visual impact on children than text alone.
One of the most difficult aspects of producing this Korean history educational cartoon at the SaPyung Research Institute was verifying the accuracy of the illustrations.
Researchers at the SaPyung Research Institute thoroughly researched the spaces and props depicted in the cartoon to ensure they were appropriate for the era.
When drawing armor, I researched and drew in detail not only the differences between the Three Kingdoms, Goryeo, and Joseon periods, but also the differences between the armor of Goguryeo, Baekje, Silla, and Gaya within the Three Kingdoms period.
In addition, during the Joseon Dynasty, not only the differences in the shape and color of clothing for each social class, but also the differences in clothing that changed over time from the early to late Joseon Dynasty were meticulously researched and reflected in the paintings.
In this way, we tried to make each and every picture as accurate as possible to historical facts.
