Receive the Holy Spirit
Description
Book Introduction
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is a command and a gift from the Lord!
A Guide to the Holy Spirit Between Word and Experience
I believe that we need a theology that stands at the center between the Bible and the Holy Spirit, between evangelicalism and charismatics.
It is not a question of choice between the Bible and the Holy Spirit.
Just as a train runs on two tracks, the church must stand balanced on the two pillars of the Bible and the Holy Spirit.
The Bible, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, is interpreted and proclaimed under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
The experience of grace can only be healthily accepted within the church when it is systematically verified within the Bible.
As I retire exactly 50 years after beginning my ministry as an educational evangelist, I have decided to write my 50th book on the topic of the Holy Spirit, a topic I have long wanted to delve into deeply.
Every time I experienced the presence of the Holy Spirit in the field of evangelism, I felt the need to examine and meditate on it biblically and theologically, and as a result, I naturally became interested in the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. This 50-year journey of pastoral ministry has culminated in this one book, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
This book is not a theological treatise, but a pneumatology containing the practical confession of a preacher and pastor.
I hope this book will serve as a small guide for pastors and believers who long for the presence of the Holy Spirit based on the teachings of the Bible.

Into the book
It has been 50 years since I started pastoring.
Even though I have lived a long life of faith and served the saints, there are still some unresolved issues in my heart.
'Why are there people who have been worshipping and hearing God's word for 10, 20, 40, or 50 years, yet still see no change?'
--- p.32
The manifestation of the Holy Spirit must have a clear biblical basis.
It must be a public event and recognized by the church community.
If it is not verified by the church community and the church leadership does not guarantee that it is “something that happened because God loves you,” it is fake.
--- p.35
The Gospel of John contains 11 accounts of Jesus' conversations.
The first of these dialogues is this chapter 3, and it is the most important of the 11 dialogues in the Gospel of John, so it was recorded first.
Here we address the question of what is the most important task in life.
If you were born on this earth to accomplish one thing, what would it be?
--- p.80
What do you think is the most important theme of the Bible, and what do you think is the most important theme of life? The purpose of the Bible is not to teach the secrets of human success or the art of navigating this difficult world.
It does not teach human morality and ethics, nor does it teach healing methods for the sick.
--- p.82
Another safeguard of salvation through the seal of the Holy Spirit is found in this passage.
“Become the guarantee of our company” means that God has become the guarantee of the company of the Kingdom of God.
If you are saved, why do you need another safety device and guarantee?
--- p.100
I didn't know until now, so I thought that was me, stuck in the mud, and I was crouching down.
Because I didn't know.
But the Bible says, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Now that we know the truth, we have been set free from the law of sin and death.
How could something that I had struggled to achieve with my own efforts and will be achieved so easily?
--- p.114
Just as a train runs on two rails, the church runs on two rails: the rail of the Bible and the rail of the Holy Spirit.
The two rails that lead us to Jesus are the Bible and the Holy Spirit.
A train derails if even one rail goes off the rails.
Without the Holy Spirit, the Bible is nothing more than letters and laws.
If you have the Holy Spirit but no Bible, it becomes empiricism and mysticism.
--- p.120~121
Jesus was stripped naked to clothe us with the garments of salvation.
He shed His blood to heal us.
The Lord's garments are garments of mystery.
If you hold on to the hem of his garment, you will be saved.
Just touching the hem of the clothes will heal you.
The power to become children of God comes.
Where is that hem?
--- p.157
When a thornbush settles in one's heart, the only thing inside is pain, and what one says will hurt others.
One by one, precious relationships crumble, faith and character crumble, and lives are destroyed.
This is Satan's strategy.
How can I defeat Satan, who plays with my broken heart? How can I live as a beneficiary of my broken heart, not its victim?
--- p.183
Some people treat people who cannot speak in tongues as people who do not have the Holy Spirit and ignore them.
They even doubt the salvation of those who do not know the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
These are all extreme thoughts.
The most important thing in the life of faith is the assurance of salvation.
No one can call Jesus Lord except by the Holy Spirit.
--- p.209
In spiritual warfare, gifts are like weapons given to soldiers going into battle.
“Saved people! I give you a gift. Use this gift to live victoriously in spiritual warfare.
We must help each other.
“Serve the church well and give glory to God!” This is the gift of the Holy Spirit.
How can grace benefit our lives of faith? I've met and interviewed many people who have experienced grace, and I've found several commonalities.
--- p.210~211
The blessings are temporary, but the fruit is eternal, born on earth and taken to heaven.
Grace is necessary for the church on earth, but fruit is something that must be shared even in heaven.
How can the fruit of the Holy Spirit be produced within me?
--- p.234
From the day I began my ministry until now, there is one question that has remained unresolved in my mind.
"Are humans truly capable of change? Should we accept and live with our frailty as is?"
--- p.306
The cowardly disciples became brave, and the fearful disciples became fearless of nothing but God.
Martyrdom became the greatest glory of the disciples.
Jesus' ministry of casting out demons, healing the sick, and preaching the word of God bore fruit in countless places.
What on earth could have changed them so suddenly?

Publisher's Review
Long for the Holy Spirit who runs my life!
A balanced pneumatology built on the two pillars of the Bible and the church
In the 'Trinity', one of the core doctrines of the Christian faith, most believers are familiar with God the Father and Jesus the Son.
However, many believers have difficulty understanding the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, because they perceive it as a vague and profound concept.
This book, without leaning towards either charismatic or evangelical, builds on the two pillars of the Bible and the church to answer the questions of who the Holy Spirit is, what the Holy Spirit does, how can we be filled with the Holy Spirit, and what a life filled with the Holy Spirit is like. It also organizes and summarizes the doctrine of the Holy Spirit between experience and the Word.
The author, through his 50-year pastoral journey, introduces the Holy Spirit, whom he has encountered in his personal life and ministry, as the master of life, and emphasizes that a life accompanied by the Holy Spirit is a life of true victory.
He also emphasizes that when we face insurmountable walls, like the Red Sea, the Jordan River, or the walls of Jericho, and when we face problems that we cannot solve on our own, we must meet the Holy Spirit who guides our lives.
I recommend this book to anyone who is lost, not knowing which way to go, or who seeks help and wants to hand over the steering wheel of their life to the Holy Spirit.
It will serve as an excellent guide for pastors and believers who long for the presence of the Holy Spirit based on the teachings of the Bible.
