The 『Metaphonological Intervention Program』 consists of 12 steps, and is tightly structured so that all children with phonological weaknesses can use it sequentially, from phonological discrimination practice for children who have difficulty with auditory-perceptual phonological discrimination to a process that aims to produce target sounds at the sentence level.
The phonological awareness practice method introduced in this approach can also be used to improve the phonological awareness abilities of slow learners who have low reading and writing performance due to difficulties in decoding letters as well as speech sound disorders.
Phonological awareness practice tasks are arranged sequentially by difficulty level, and helpful areas for reading and writing performance tasks are provided for each type of phonological awareness task, making it easy to identify phonological awareness tasks that require focused practice in each area.
